I'm still withdrawing from Lexapro after having C/T'd 4.5 months ago. I never got zaps or akathisia, but EVERYTHING else and am currently fighting apathy, fits of rage, panic, auditory abnormalities, and other stuff along with sexual problems on a daily basis. I've tried lots of things, and Phenibut helps the most. I need an alternative for my off days.
Halp!

You could try a low dose of DXM. Dissociatives are pretty great at getting you through withdrawals for any substance, and the fact that DXM is a light SRI might alleviate some of your symptoms temporarily. Just stick to a low dose so you don't add to your withdrawals. :)

Thanks for the replies! I really appreciate them. However, Temazepam inhibits me to the point I can't control my rage and unleash it on those around me. Also, DXM makes me feel retarded and it's too dirty (I loved it years ago).
Am I screwed? Any legal supplements you can recommend? Someone mentioned Wal-Mart.

5-HTP is a supplement that is a precursor for serotonin and shows similar benefits with less side effects as pharmaceutical serotonergics, you may want to look into that.

5htp like Cane said, or i'd recommend St. Johns Wort. It works the same way that SSRI's work, yet gentler and herbal.

You could also try Kava and Valerian in combination. I have found these to be pretty effective at calming the nerves.

yeah just go search the racks at walmart, they have isles and isles dedicated to natural treatments.. ive heard great things about 5htp. It's used as anything from a sleep aid, to an anti-depressant. Just ask the pharmacist at walmart and he can point you in a better direction..he knows a hell of a lot more about drugs than anyone else

You could try tramadol. But then again that would be swapping it out for a potent painkiller. I found it eased my symptoms especially the brain zaps while coming off estitalopram. Used it for the first two weeks after stopping then ceased the tramadol (was taking low doses 50-100mg a day) and didn't have it too bad!
