Supermodel Kate Moss 'admits cocaine use' (Updated 6/16/06)

Miss Frost's relationship with Miss Moss was said to have caused friction in her marriage to Mr Law, which ended in divorce earlier this year.

Incredibly, Miss Moss placated Law by inviting him to join them in bed.

A source said: 'Jude started to hate it when his wife was alone with Kate. He hated the whole thing and they rowed about it a lot. So they had threesomes - Jude, Kate and Sadie - because he didn't like it when he wasn't involved.'

No shit?

ROTFL!

"Honey, you KNOW I don't like to have threesomes with your supermodel friends.. just this ONE last time ok?!" <- Jude Law

'We are having a dialogue with her,' a spokesman said. 'This is a very unfortunate situation.'

Very unfortunate - for them.. they really don't want to have to write off the £3m or 4m they've already spent on the upcoming autumn advertising campaign with Kate Moss...

"STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Swedish clothing chain Hennes & Mauritz said Tuesday it will drop a planned advertising campaign with model Kate Moss after she admitted to recently using cocaine.

H&M, Europe's largest fashion retailer, had planned to use Moss to help launch a new collection designed by Stella McCartney that will hit stores in 22 countries in November.

The decision to drop the campaign comes after Moss acknowledged last week that British tabloid reports of her recent cocaine use were true.

H&M initially said it would proceed with the campaign, but company spokeswoman Liv Asarnoj said Tuesday that "after evaluating the situation, we have decided that a campaign with Kate Moss is not consistent with H&M's clear disassociation from drugs."

The company will call in another model for the campaign, Asarnoj said.

H&M said Saturday that Moss had apologized for her drug use and promised in writing to abide by a company policy that models be "healthy, wholesome and sound."

McCartney, daughter of former Beatle
Paul McCartney, will design a limited women's collection of about 40 items that will go on sale in 400 stores on Nov. 10. Last year, H&M released a similar collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld, which sold out in a few hours in many stores worldwide."

Police to probe Kate Moss drug claims

Police to probe Kate Moss drug claims

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- British police will investigate newspaper reports that supermodel Kate Moss took illegal drugs, London's Scotland Yard said on Wednesday, as a second fashion house parted ways with the 31-year-old over the scandal.

The police inquiry comes after the Daily Mirror newspaper printed pictures of the London-born model that the British tabloid said showed her snorting cocaine.

In another setback for one of the world's most famous fashion figures, British retailer Burberry said it had ditched plans to work with Moss this year due to the controversy.

Its announcement followed a decision on Tuesday by Swedish-based fashion giant Hennes and Mauritz to cancel an advertising campaign using Moss.

French fashion house Chanel said on Wednesday it would not renew a contract with Moss that expires next month, but declined to comment on whether this was linked to the drug claims.

Police said any investigation would require more evidence than newspaper photos before it could proceed.

"Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur has reviewed the matter and had asked officers from the specialist crime directive to look at reports as highlighted in a national newspaper," a Scotland Yard spokeswoman said.

Moss's lawyer, Gerrard Tyrrell, was not immediately available for comment on the police investigation. Moss has previously denied taking hard drugs and has yet to comment on the Mirror's claims.

Moss, who has a two-year-old daughter, won substantial libel damages in July over claims by the Sunday Mirror that she collapsed in a cocaine-fueled coma in Barcelona in 2001.

H&M said it had made its decision to sever ties with Moss after talking to her, saying she was regretful. It gave no further details.

Burberry, which has no contract with Moss, also decided to ditch the model.

"We had one project scheduled with Kate for this autumn and in the circumstances both Kate and Burberry have mutually agreed that it is inappropriate to go ahead," it said in a statement.

"We are saddened by her current circumstances and hope she overcomes her problems as soon as possible," Burberry added.

While not linking its decision to the scandal, Chanel's announcement will add to Moss's woes as she seeks to limit the fallout of a September 15 report.

Billed by the Mirror as an "undercover investigation", it featured grainy images apparently of the catwalk queen taking cocaine.

"We have a campaign with her until the end of October and we don't have any other projects (with her) after this date," a spokeswoman for Chanel perfumes said.

Moss has been the face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume since 2002.

She was discovered by a modeling agency as a 14-year-old schoolgirl, and her waifish good looks have graced the covers of countless magazines.

Tabloid interest in Moss intensified in recent months because of her on-off relationship with British rocker Pete Doherty, who has admitted to addiction to cocaine and heroin.

British media have reported that Moss earns about £4 million ($7.22 million) a year through commercial contracts.

I think the only real problem she could face (other than financial/image damage).. is an investigation of her being a unfit mother.

Kate Moss ad campaign dumped for drugs

STOCKHOLM, SEPTEMBER 21: Fashion giant Hennes and Mauritz has cancelled an advertising campaign using supermodel Kate Moss following allegations she took illegal drugs, the Swedish-based company said on Tuesday.

The company had previously said it would still use Moss in the campaign after meeting her to discuss the publication of photos in the Daily Mirror which the tabloid said showed her snorting cocaine.
Moss has previously denied taking hard drugs. On Tuesday her spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.

“H&M has decided to cancel the advertising campaign with model Kate Moss. H&M distances itself strongly from drugs and for several years has been actively engaged in drug prevention work with the Mentor Foundation,” the company said.

“After examining the situation H&M decided that the campaign with Kate Moss is not compatible with H&M’s clear rejection of drugs,” the group added.

Moss’s waifish good looks have graced the covers of countless magazines. She was discovered by a modelling agency as a 14-year-old schoolgirl and went on to become one of the most famous faces on the catwalk.

H&M spokeswoman Annacarin Bjorne said the change of heart came after the group had considered the matter in more depth.

“We needed the weekend to evaluate the situation and really to make a well-reasoned decision,” she said.

“What she told us when we talked to her after this came to our knowledge was just that she was extremely regretful.”

She declined to go into further details of the talks with the model.

Moss was signed up by H&M to front its high-profile autumn collection designed by Stella McCartney. She also has contracts with other major fashion and cosmetic houses, which have all refused to comment on the story so far.

The media have reported that Moss earns around 4 million pounds a year through commercial contracts.

From model to fashion pariah: Moss' career at risk
September 22, 2005

LONDON (AP) - Barely a teenager and posing topless in a Calvin Klein underwear ad in 1990, British supermodel Kate Moss sashayed her way onto the covers of glossy magazines amid controversy over her "heroin chic" image. But recent pictures of her allegedly snorting cocaine have turned the fashion icon into a fashion pariah with three labels dropping her.

The supermodel's fall from grace has forced a re-think on the types of role models the fashion world endorses.

It also raises questions about possible hypocrisy in an industry notorious for its drug-fuelled party life: Haute couture lovingly cultivated Moss' bad girl image, and she now finds her career threatened with the first evidence that the image may match reality.

"It's hypocritical," said pop culture lecturer Cary Cooper with Lancaster University. "The industry saw the warning signs. Others saw the warning signs. Something should have been done sooner."

Pictures published in British tabloid the Daily Mirror last week appeared to show the 31-year-old snorting cocaine in a London studio. This week, the fallout came in rapid succession: She was dropped by Swedish clothing giant H&M and Britain's Burberry, and French fashion house Chanel said it would not renew her contract. British cosmetics company Rimmel London announced Thursday it was reviewing its contract with Moss.

"Rimmel London is shocked and dismayed by the recent press allegations surrounding Kate Moss' behaviour. We are currently reviewing her contract," said company spokeswoman Caroline Pycroft, days after Rimmel said it planned to continue her $2.3 million US reported contract.

Moss issued a statement Thursday, saying she took "full responsibility for my actions" and apologizing to "all the people I have let down."

Much of the public appeared unsurprised by the cocaine allegations - but some expressed concern over the case because Moss has a nearly three-year-old daughter.

"She's been doing it for years and we all know it," said Marilena Rossina, 38, one of dozens of Londoners reading the latest headlines about Moss. "It's not like cocaine is something new in the modelling industry. But I'm worried about her child, and she's in the public eye - a role model for a lot of teen girls."

Some people in the fashion world defended Moss, suggesting she was the victim of a media lynching.

"I think it's really unfair," said Icelandic fashion designer Helga Vjornsson, who lives off the legendary Parisian shopping street Rue du Faubourg St Honore.

"She may be a product but she's a human being too," said Vjornsson. "The media are responsible for her loss of success or work."

Catherine Deneuve - a former face of Chanel No. 5 - said Moss' private life should be kept private. "She's a great model. If she's ruining her personal life, that belongs to her," said the 61-year-old cinema diva.

Originally from the unglamorous south London suburb of Croydon, Moss was discovered by Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm model agency, who spotted her at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport in 1988.

Two years later, topless pictures of the 14 year old were splashed across billboards. Critics condemned Moss' waifish appearance, blank stare and emaciated figure - but that didn't prevent "heroin chic" from becoming the most coveted look of the era.

The talk didn't let up as the model entered adulthood in the spotlight, boosting her celebrity cachet by dating actors such as Johnny Depp, and most recently Pete Doherty, the 26-year-old former Libertines front man, who has allegedly been in and out of drug rehab.

As Moss' status grew, so did paparazzi interest.

In 1998, she made headlines when she reportedly checked into a London rehabilitation clinic after suffering from what was termed "exhaustion." Two years later, she was hospitalized again, reportedly for a kidney infection. In 2003, the chain-smoker was reportedly diagnosed with a sleeping disorder. Allegations of her cocaine use never let up.

French fashion consultant Anne de Champigneuil said Moss should have been more careful.

"A brand has the right to ask for what it wants," she said. "People are lucky to have such great contracts, and they need to respect them."

"It's a shame to give (fans) this example," said Champigneuil. "Everyone identifies with a star."

As the glamour magazines crafted Moss' rise with constant shots of the wide-eyed, five-foot-six model, some parts of the tabloid press appeared just as determined to orchestrate her fall.

She recently settled a libel suit with Britain's Sunday Mirror that published an article in January alleging that during a visit to Barcelona, Spain, in June 2001, Moss collapsed into a drug-induced coma and had to be revived after taking large amounts of cocaine.

It was the same tabloid that ran the pictures of her cocaine use last week.

Simone Marchetti, a fashion writer for the Italian female magazine Donna Moderna suggested that the press has a love-hate relationship with international superstars like Moss.

"There's a tendency to create a myth and then to destroy it," said Marchetti.

And there has been a history of models crashing and burning over drug use. Gia Carangi, a Vogue model in the late 1970s, was known for her heroin and cocaine use and her raucous partying at New York Studio 54. The model later died of AIDS.

Moss' troubles may go beyond the loss of lucrative contracts: Scotland Yard announced this week it plans to call Moss in for questioning over the drug allegations.

pathetic init? if u want a go at moss do it coz she wears fur - who givs a fuck she does coke - like er well most people really - "celebrity takes drugz" just isnt a fucking new item surely?

Al;l this article shows is that:

1) it's OK to do drugs if you got cash/status. Hey, look where she's doing her lines, in FROM OF EVERYBODy.
2) It's common knowledge that the whole industry is totally abuot cocaine. Can you IMAGINE what cocaine does to an allready vain and obsessed person? They must feel GREAT.
3) People can hold down massively good careers WHILE doing massive amounts of cocaine.

So she is a proven coke-head and has a 3yr old daughter, if this was the case with one of us poor average folks, child services would have taken away her daughter already, why isn't the same standard applied to rich celebrities ?

8)

Damn!!! No big surprise that Kate likes coke, but I need to get her phone number if she fucks anyoone in sight when she's coked up! She could make me her toy if she wanted!!!!

Umm.. I just got a call from Kate Moss's agent. She was wondering if Bluelight needs a new "face"? She said she'd work for $1000/month and 2 x 8balls a week.

Moss habit includes ketamine: report
From correspondents in London
September 24, 2005

TROUBLED British supermodel Kate Moss faces new tabloid allegations of drug abuse, this time involving a potent livestock anaesthetic nicknamed "Special K".

The Daily Mirror quoted a former model, who it did not identify, as claiming that she witnessed Moss, 31, snorting Ketamine as well as cocaine at a late-night party in a London apartment five years ago.

"We were at a party at a lovely flat by the Thames," the model was quoted as telling the newspaper, which first published images nine days earlier of Moss apparently snorting cocaine at a London recording studio.

"Kate used a credit card to cut up the powder, then hoovered hers up first. She was quite greedy. She was like a machine."

"Then she wiped her nose and started jumping around the room like a mad woman. She was going on about 'Special K', saying how great it was."

Experts say Ketamine, created in the 1960s for veterinary use, can cause delirium, amnesia, depression and long-term memory and cognitive problems. For some, the effect is known as a "K-Hole" or "out of body" experience.

Moss issued a statement this week claiming "full responsibility" for her conduct, after Swedish fashion retailer H and M and British trench coat purveyor Burberry dropped her from their advertising campaigns.

French fashion house Chanel said it would not renew its contract with Moss when it expires next month, while British cosmetics brand Rimmel - while welcoming her apology - held back from saying if it too would drop her.

"I am trying to be positive, and the support and love I have received are invaluable," Moss said in her statement, issued through her agent Storm.

Adding to Moss's woes, London's Metropolitan Police said it would look into the drug allegations to see whether she should face criminal charges, while social workers mulled over whether to act to protect her young daughter.

The virtual collapse of Moss's career in the space of just one week dominated gossip at London Fashion Week which concluded on Thursday.

The grainy images in the Daily Mirror on September 15 showed Moss apparently snorting cocaine in a west London studio where her rock-star boyfriend Pete Doherty, a self-confessed drug addict, was recording.

From The Australian/News.com.au network

As distasteful as we might find her personally as a fashion model and general all-round airhead, I think we should be getting behind her. If for no other reason than reports that the Scientologists are after her... (an enemy of my enemy is my friend).

I know it's a pipe dream but I guess I believe in the promise that lies within the storyline of Ben Elton's 'High Society'; that a literate, articulate celebrity can do more for the cause of drug law reform than a hundred passionate activists.

:\

^^^ Hey, I'm all good with having Kate Moss hang with me.. Anytime!

She's not a half bad model as models go... I think nothing less of her for doing cocaine/ketamine, I just think she should have been smart enough tnot to do it out in the open.

Hey Kate! My house for party Saturday night, bring your friends!
