From reading the first chapter of the book & then watching Summerwind video/Reddit posts...It actually really spooky how close It Is. Yeah It has some ghost sightings but they seem to be more NPC/Avatars than actual Spirits, It more common for the house Itself to act strange.

- No one had any clue why It suddenly became haunted as their was no dark History.

- Rooms would mesure oddly when the wife's dad tried turning It into a B&B or food joint.

- Found a dead body in a secret space in the wall that vanish when they came back to check?.

- The mansion looks weird like a cabin with large extensions.

- What was the family doing when they were effectivly poor for a short while???.

This is a subject that has fascinated me for perhaps 70 years or so. I spent 7 years in a RC seminary. During that time I had the fortune of having one of the Archdiocese of Chicago's exorcist for my Latin Professor for two years. I used that opportunity to have many conversations with him regarding possessions, etc from a RC point of view. So I'll just make a few general comments and hope that everyone who reads this takes my post as one explanation, not necessarily the only and correct one.

While it is true that once a home, etc are infested by spirits they will resist being removed and banned it only takes one occurrence of something demonic or supernatural to create a presence there. Even new homes or possessions can be affected.

It is common for spiritual beings to be able to have power over our perceptions or material objects that we as humans, do not. They try not to draw attention to themselves, though. The intent is likely to make us unsettled and in a state of fear.

- The mansion looks weird like a cabin with large extensions.

Material size, shape etc. have no bearing on whether something is infested, but the shape is cool... 👍

I have zero idea if the location in question is truly infested or not, these are just some learning experiences I thought I would share.

As for House of leaves... It is "fiction", so yeah. Interesting story perhaps based on Summerwind Mansion. ;)

Summerwind; was that the place where the husband of the family went crazy and would play the piano all night? Then the wife and kids fled and never saw him again?

HoL not really a standard ghost story you could call It semi-fiction without any issues, Even though It really a very Surrealist take on a Lovecraft story. What I was meaning It houses that are Genius Locai are only rare because they can easily make you look insane.

Even the family at time wondered If the house was alive, Since It made almost-breathing sounds.

Yes.
There was a documentary on a real story of some big house and the guy did exactly what I mentioned. There was no mystery corpse, though. Or breathing. Just the usual haunting stuff, and the guy who would play the piano all night.

Not sure of the name, but there was a big old mansion, that a family got really cheap, not a log cabin home.

All fled but the husband, and this wasn't a fiction story, but a different name I guess?and details. But there was someplace and the husband went crazy and played the piano all night, or an organ. The wife and kids fled, and they never saw the husband again.

"During renovations, the skull of a human with black hair was allegedly found in a crawl space by one of his daughters."

"When Mr. Von Bober began remodeling the mansion to convert it to a Bed and Breakfast, workers complained that some of their tools would disappear, only to reappear at different locations. Also, the rooms would change length and width on a daily basis, forcing an end to the renovations."

"Two appliances, a hot water heater and water pump, would break down but suddenly work again before a serviceman was called to the house"

3 cases of the Summerwind bending reality that the family had to deal with all with 3rd parties.

Ok, It was the same house, just bought later by someone who probably laughed it off. I know this stuff is real, and their are really only two kinds of haunting as far as I am concerned.

Those were demon(s) that take up residence and only leave if they want to or God, or through angels removes them. Man has no Dominion over them. Then the second kind where a person has somehow, by no fault of their own or messing with the occult, has had a demon(s) attached to them and can cause a place to be sort of haunted, but mainly because of a person they for whatever have decided to harass.

Haunted houses can be places of tragedy and other stuff or for no apparent reason. Kind of like with people who are literally harassed and followed and sometimes possessed.
Either for no real obvious reason or because of a Ouiji board or other dabbling, to outright occult practices and rituals either of the two second ways can attract as opposed to people through no fault of their own have been targeted.

I have witnessed this. A person who was tormented and followed and it caused paranormal harassment to put it mildly.
