“We can't stop here, this is bat country!”
Hello there,
It sounds we have a few things in commom. (I just posted my intro and bio yesterday). I too am hooked on prescription Oxy and have been struggling to stop for some time now.

I would avoid heroin. I get the price thing, but in my experience it leads to even greater tolerance and then a much greater need for more very quickly, plus the risk of legal problems. The saying by me is "once you go H, you never come back". Now I don't know how much Oxy you are taking, but the H withdrawal is probably the worst there is plus additional PAWS time, again, in my experience.

I too, continue to relapse on oxy and it just plain sucks. The only advice I can provide is that by stopping and startinh repeatedly you may lessen the acute period symptoms slightly and build your strength in detox periods, as you become more and more aware of how sick you can become and still keep pushing.

Hope that makes sense. Positive thoughts on kicking this rock off your back so you can truly live again :)

you give sound advice, maybe you can offer me a tad? i got off chronic pain meds to do as you say...i've always been a self medicator for undiagnosed adhd/ptsd/depression then a spinal injury. i got pharm dexies ( we called them christmas tress back then ) and i didn't abuse as i'd already kicked a dilaudid/coke addiction previously and never want to go back unless i'm dying....so, i just want your opinion on what might help the spinal stenosis that the neuros say is so severe i should get operation but i won't....i did do alternative therapy's and a cleanse that worked...but the neck pain with the add meds is almost as bad as the anxiety from the vyvanse...any suggestions? thanks

Blanched,
The only true painkiller and resolve for spinal related pain has been:
No opiates - they cause rebound pain
Exercise - (if you can) to build muscle around the tisuues, bone, and nerves. This supports them and takes the pressure off.
A clean nutrient filled diet - there are many vegetables that contain the building blocks for neurotransmitters, our natural painkillers.
Avoid additional toxins - Such as cigarettes as stored toxins can cause pain
Try vitamin D drops to build bone mass.

Good luck and thank you for your kind words

Due to the topic heading I thought I would ask a few questions here as well. Any idea what the best muscle relaxant is and or cocktail to stop the radiating (stabbing) pain in my legs and gluts and the spasming pain in my lower back? They've got me on Lyrica, B12, Exoperin, Ultracet, Arobest, and various opiates. I really want advice on the meds that are most effective ( injury-herniated disc pushing on the root nerve) aside from pain meds. They are really controlled over here and I don't have much say in what I get so adjusting the others is what I would really appreciate some help with.
