I've always been very interested in chemistry, pharmacology, neurology, all that cool stuff.

Throw drugs in there and I'm even more interested.

I've taken high school chemistry and felt very, very disappointed with how little I learned, and how shallow the topics were.

Can anyone recommend literature that I can enlighten myself in these subjects?

I am very much interested in real studies, and real experiments to find out more about drugs interact with the brain.

The topics in HS chemistry are important 'cause they set a foundation for the more complex topics. If you want to go the drugs/pharmacology route you pretty much have to learn some biology, biochemistry, and a good amount of organic chemistry to succeed. You'll still have to know what a mole is, and know rate laws and stuff like that, though.
