I discovered a couple months back that I am a much less anxious and easily agitated person when I don't drink caffeinated drinks. I made the mistake of having a Diet Coke and an iced coffee within a 2-hour period because I had some early morning errands to run, and now I'm regretting it because I can't stop shaking and I'm super jumpy.

I pretty much kicked the caffeine habit I had since middle school!

But now I'm kind of at a loss for what to drink other than water, iced decaf, and decaf Diet Coke.

Any suggestions on tasty drinks that I can enjoy now that I've beaten the caffeine devil? Nothing too sweet or high in calories, please.

:)

If you have access to it, Coca Tea. This is sacred beverage.

(Take it from someone who suffers from severe panic attacks and cannot take more caffeine than a tiny cup of tea!)

Pu Er Tea. It's a chinese loose leaf tea. Doesn't taste great but I'm sure you could add some flavouring to it if you wanted.

I swear, this stuff is like herbal valium. I've never had a tea be so relaxing.

Once upon a time I was stuck into these drinks called Bubble Tea. I have no idea if they exsist in the US or in many countries outside of Asia (the few places that still sell them in Melbourne, AU are few and far between).

But they taste great, have natural flavouring and tapioca beans are nice to eat at the bottom.

Wikipedia has a article on it too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_tea

yup, juices are the way to go. cranberry juice and orange juice are my faves and you can drink as much as you want since there are so many healthy benefits =]

on cold days/nights apple cider is delicious (sweetened, 8 oz ~125 cal.)

I've stopped drinking A LOT of the juices from the supermarket (Think: Ocean Spray and the like!) because of its high sugar and preservative content. :p (I used to drink gallons of that all the time) I try to get natural fruit juices with no added sugar in them...or vegetable juice. Man I love vegetable juice....the best quicker upper.

Of course nothing beats freshly made juices with fresh fruit and vegetables.
Being a former soda pop/iced tea/Tang/coffee addict I can really tell the huge difference in my body, energy and health after I cut most of that out and started drinking fresh juice.
Damn I wish we had Jamba Juice here... :X

^^ i tend to look for the sugar free juices (made for diabetics) because i don't like Maddie having anything with sugar in it. so while i'm having a nice glass of juice, she gets a sippy cup with diluted juice (a nice alternative to plain water) and she loves it!

i am thinking about making my own since these damn things are flippin expensive but it's worth the money for now.

k
first of all
water (h2o) is the greatest drink of all time
then we've got Gatorade Rain Tangerine
next runner up is probably Arizona Green Tea
Gatorade X Factor Orange+Tropical Fruit
Gatorade (original) Citrus Cooler

idk
lol
all that shit is awesome

Me = intrigued... found a Peruvian Supplier online that will happily send . . . I just wonder if it is legal in Europe or if customes are likely to withhold it. Does anyone know?

Well there are loads of them on ebay and i've seen a few sites who sell it too but i have no idea what would happen if customs opened it up, they might just let it on through or you might hear a knock at your door i don't know.

I'd say water. Stay away from drinking a lot of tea because it will dehydrate you in the same way that coffee does.

Fruit juice is okay but it's a lot of simple sugar.

Just carry a bottle of water with you. If you need something "a little better" than water, try some of the brands that are slightly flavored and carbonated like Talking Rain or Aquafina "Sparkling"

Stay away from carbonated water with aspartame sweetener, like Aquafina "FlavorSplash."

Caffeinated teas will dehydrate you. This is not the case for all teas though.

The warning about sugar in juices is definitely worth listening to. It's a risk factor with juices, despite the "goodness" you get from the fruit (although with them being pasteurised, I wonder how much is really left... some orange juices have been found to contain zero Vit. c... also if they're from concentrate they're likely pretty bad news). Make your own frash juices and use lots of vegetables rather than just fruit (with some commercial veg juices, you may have added salt, which is also not desirable, imho).

Yeah, and water is ultimately the best drink in the world :)

Not all flavored water. Some brands just have the flavor alkaloids from lemons or lime in them without any sugar (these are the best, imo).

Most flavored waters do have sugar, and I'd stay away from these. The ones with aspartame aren't dangerous...I just think they taste weird.

Hey, no caffeine! :)

ebola

Actually, amphetamines DON'T disagree with me - caffeine makes me panicky, but amphetamines make me feel pretty normal. And ADD is not one of my diagnoses... I don't get it ;)

Generally I do carry a bottle of spring water in my purse because I like to stay hydrated.

Flavored water is really full of sugar in general. Vitamin water is great with vodka though!

I've taken to Snapple Peach Flavor and decaf espresso; I don't want to gain weight and I don't want diabetes.

I like Diet Coke, with caffeine, but it makes me shaky. I do drink it without caffeine, I don't mind the taste of aspartame or Splenda, but is chugging chemicals all day any better than chugging sugar?

I think I will start brewing my own hibiscus tea with tasty and healthy honey from Marshall's Farm (see www.marshallsfarmhoney). I have a couple jars of it in the house - it's native to the Bay Area and it's delicious. I highly recommend it!

and about the coca tea - if it's easier to deal with than caffeine... ;)

I can really only think of herbal teas, but many of thoose will make you drowsy.

you could try ginseng tea, that energizes but isn't quite as jittery as caffiene.
