Sugar Blues

^ I cringed at that also.. of course some of the info provided is skewed/misinterpreted/silly (like that being a 'chemical' is inherently bad, or the implication that 'natural products' are somehow not 'chemicals'), but there is still a lot of very convincing objective evidence. Enough to convince me to stay away from aspartame for good.

ahhh, the white poison *insert Chinese fire-drill*

Does anyone know the effects of honey compared to the effects of refined sugar? I hear its somewhat medicinal, and have even heard people claim honey and cinnamon to be a cure all (dont believe the hype... but still)
...

I love honey too :D If I recall correctly raw (unpasteurized) honey has some antibacterial/antimicrobial properties. It was used by the ancient greeks to treat wounds (and by the ancient egyptians for embalming) for that reason.

...Its glycemic index ranges from 31 to 78, depending on the variety....

With respect to carbohydrates, honey is mainly fructose (about 38.5% ) and glucose (about 31.0% ),.... Honey's remaining carbohydrates include maltose, sucrose, and other complex carbohydrates. Honey contains trace amounts of several vitamins and minerals.... Honey also contains tiny amounts of several compounds thought to function as antioxidants, including chrysin, pinobanksin, vitamin C, catalase, and pinocembrin.

I have about ~500g of sugar every night after dinner before I go to bed. Haribo candy and root beer. I feel pretty damn sick without going into detail further which would take forever.

500g is a whole lot of sugar to take in, especially in one sitting.. you might want to consider cutting down on that (significantly..) for your health, especially if you regularly feel sick afterward. :\

Too much sugar is most definitely not good, but I don't think it compares at all to the evils of high fructose corn syrup. I wish they used more real sugar in things. I might actually be able to have a soda once in awhile without being ill for a week afterwards. (I'm corn intolerant)
