Sudden change in effects of Methiopropamine. Anxiety instead of lifted mood.

I use Methiopropamine nearly every day at around 100mg to 150mg/d (3 months until now) to combat my lack of motivation, concentration and (a kind of, SSRIs resistant) depression. 4 days ago I had a unusual and very awesome high with it - including lots of motivation, fun and what I like most about stimulants: being very sociable. The day after I took a day off the mpa.

Then the following happened yesterday: I took a usual dosage of about 80mg and additional 50mg half an hour later. It started as usual, but without euphoria/general happiness like 2 days before. Then after about 1 hour I got something what felt like a mild panic attack. The anxiety didn't go away, not even 4 hours after that. I took a bath and some phenibut (due to lack of benzos) to calm my nerves, but it didn't help. There where no symptoms of psychosis like hearing voices, seeing shadows, or a strange train of thought etc. My symptoms of derealisation got worse - 'brain fog' describes it best (I suffer from chronic derealisation for 9 years, no therapy, including neuroleptics, helped).

After increasing the phenibut dosage and some time I started to feel better and went to sleep pretty early. Today I felt better. I'd attribute the still slightly foggy mind to the 15 hours of sleep.

Today I was too curious to find out if these effects would happen again. They did. This time I had much more control about the negative effects, but all in all it was (and still is) a very, very unpleasent experience.

The sudden change in effects is what puzzles me most. I always get enough sleep (6-10 hours a day), eat healthy and supplement with antioxidants to combat neurotoxicity of stimulants.

Has anybody experienced similar effects and/or can explain what happened?

I guess (iam not a pro on this) that the longtime use of MPA has reduced your dopaminreceptors to a degree that when flooding with dopamin (because of the MPA) your body reacts with anxiety!
It could also be a depleation of dopamin and serotonin (dunno how much the 5ht plays a part in the MPA high)

Id recomend to not use MPA for a few days to weeks (the longer the better) and see if effects get better after that (they should). If they stay the same id see a doctor.

It's neurotransmitter depletion from using it everyday. It happens with pretty much any stimulant. Don't use RC's everyday and then they'll work how they're supposed to.

I had an experience very similar to what you have described, like a mild panic attack that I couldn't control. I've been a regular MPA user for nearly two years. I use it as a functional aid to getting work done. I've had months where I 've taken between 5-10g and days where I've easily taken 1g.

I've had all the usual stimulant side effects; sweating, slightly elevated heart rate, loss of appetite and trouble sleeping occasionally. But none of these have ever been a problem as they are to be expected. I take care looking after myself, I get plenty sleep, eat healthily and exercise regular.

The day that I first experienced what I can only describe as a mild sort of panic attack was just another day. I'd been taking MPA through the day and was getting alot of work done. Around 5pm I was sitting at my desk at home and I felt a little light headed. I thought maybe I just needed to get up and move about a little. My heart started to beat faster and I could feel my hands and feet start to noticeably sweat but they were cold. I went upstair to lie down for a bit, try to shake it off. When I got onto the bed my head was buzzing and all of a sudden I felt like I was in a panicked state and started shaking a little. I got pins and needles in my hands and there was a ringing in my ears. My chest felt heavy and breathing seemed labored. I lay on the bed thinking back, had I taken too much MPA? had I overdosed? But I had not taken a huge amount that day, if anything less than normal. And the last dose had been around 1-2 hrs before these negative effects started. I lay on the bed for approx 3-4 hrs until my hear rate came down and the negative effects subsided.

I too was curious as to whether the negative effects could be down to the MPA. I thought that if these were normal side effects I'd have experienced them earlier.
The next day I thought I would test it out. I measured a 30mg dose of MPA. I experienced the usual effects and after 2 hrs had no negative effects. I redosed with another 30mg carefully measured after 3 hrs from the first dose.

After 1 hr I felt the start of those negative effects, feet and hands going instantly cold, starting to feel shakey and anxious my heart stared to beat rapidly. I took my blood pressure with a cuff and it was greatly increase though I cant remember the exact reading, my heart rate was around 140bpm at rest. I found the effects easier to manage this time but they were not pleasant. I have since massively reduced the amount I take and am very wary of it.

I think what puzzles me the most is why these effects have only just recently started. I have researched the subject tirelessly and cant seem to find any answers. If it is down to a reduction in dopamine as has been previously suggested why have these effects only recently started after nearly two years. Prior to taking MPA I was a regular amphetamine user for many years without any serious negative effects. In my younger days I took MDMA, cocaine, LSD, 2CI and a number of other drugs regularly and sometimes binges and never had a negative experience like the one I've described above.

I appologise if I've missed any crucial details, this is my first post on any experience I've had. I felt I had to share it since it was so similar to your experience.
