I remember getting very high on subutex (recreationally) years ago with no tolerance to any opiates whatsoever.

I now take 60 mg of methadone at a time, no more than once a week. (One dose, one day, every seven days)

I was wondering if anyone has an opinion of how long I should abstain from uing methadone to:

1. avoid precipitated W/D.

2. achieve a decent 'bupe' high.

I know that it is taboo on some forums to discuss recreational use of subutex/suboxone, but I saw a mega-rec.-buprenorphin thread and thought that it is apppropriate. Help would be greatly appreciated!

People who are tolerant to opiates rarely get any sort of high from bupe.

You should wait at least 72 hours before taking any sub since dones half life is so long.

does taking 60 mg of done ONCE a week make me "tolerant" in the way you speak of? I never feel any W/D symptoms the seven days I am not on any sort of opiate (totallly sober).

Good advice, Georgie.

Please read our 'posting standards' thread. This is what we'd consider self-serving and also something you could find the answer to searching or browsing the suboxone mega thread.

You were right that this forum doesn't take issue with discussion of recreational use of maintenance medicines but this thread isn't going to stay open.

Always check the directory and search around before starting a thread because chances are, its been covered.

Also, dosing questions are better suited to the Basic Drug Discussion forum.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

EDIT:
You can have a tolerance without physical dependence and withdrawals. Tolerance means you require a higher dose than when you started to achieve the same effects and 60mg is higher than a baseline dose.
