Substituted Tryptamines: Compare and Contrast!

Hey there. I have recently gained the ability to taste 4-ho-mipt, 4-ho-met, and 4-aco-dipt, and so I'm trying to find out as much about them as possible in preparation for my upcoming experiences. I've been to all the usual places where reliable information can be found about them, Bluelight included (yes I did UTFSE on this one), and I think it would be very useful to create a thread dedicated to the differences between the various 4 and 5 position substituted tryptamines.

Obviously any such thread would be almost all qualitative and subjective (except dose and duration, etc.), but I think it would be very helpful for those who are not as familiar with RC tryptamines as they are with other drugs, psychedelic or otherwise. So, does anyone here feel like trying to qualitatively describe the various 4 and 5 substituted tryptamines? Most useful I think would be posts from someone who has experienced more than one of them, because comparing and contrasting between them would be most useful. Obviously there's already the BnD threads about each of the substituted tryptamines, but I really do think it would be a grand idea to have a thread that sort of sums up the various aspects of the substituted tryptamines in comparison to one another.

Anybody agree? I found a similar thread while searching but it had a grand total of a single reply post, so I'm hoping people might feel more up to the challenge this time around.

Thanks much, have fun, stay safe!

In my personal experiences, 5-MeO-tryptamines are entirely different psychedelics compared to 4-substituted tryptamines, and phenethylamines from 2Cs series, as well as several oher psychedelics I tried.
It is too difficult for me to describe the differences, but 5-MeO-tryptamines are entirely different beasts. First of all, they aren't very visual. This may be surprising and disappointing for the first time, especially if you take low to moderate doses. At strong doses, they may get visual, yes, but stilll not so colorful and impressive as other psychedelics. Anyway, you don't take psychedelics merely for bells and whistles, do you? And the true glory of 5-MeO-tryptamines is their ability to connect your consciousness and subconsciousness, to bring your deeply hidden thoughts back to the foreground, and to do really tricky things on your ego. 5-MeO-T's have all the power of other psychedelics + some strange magic. That's why I love them.

All the tryptamines I've done, not just 4-subbed or RC. Hope it helps. All of this is subjective obviously.

Mushrooms: Well you eat these. They don’t taste all that great but as long as you don’t hate regular mushrooms these are fine. There’s some stomach anxiety as the mushrooms are digested but it isn’t all that bad. The first hints of the drug manifest itself in a great desire to smile and laugh at nothing in particular. Mood is lifted incredibly and all emotions amplified. Some anxiety is present but as long as you are comfortable with your setting it shouldn’t be an issue. The visuals are quite pleasant, gentle breathing and swaying of everything. Patterns look great and are engrossing. Closed eye visuals tend to be geometric. Thoughts are very philosophical, everything is deep and profound. These thoughts, while sometimes silly when analyzed while sober, tend to hold true. One of the best things about mushrooms is that I tend to feel a positive mood lift for the next few days.

4-AcO-DMT: Pretty much the exact same as shrooms. Less nausea and easier come up. It tends to be more uniform and a bit shorter then shrooms. I prefer it to shrooms because of accurate dosing.

4-HO-MPT: While it is plenty visual and has the tryptamine buzz I never felt a positive emotional push. The visuals are more of the splitting than breathing kind and patterns, while still interesting, aren’t amazing. At times there was great dysphoria and at times euphoria, but the kind one gets from doing something dirty or shameful. I felt many conflicting feelings while on this, I was both happy and sad at the same time. I was bad at vocalizing my not that great feelings to my trip mates. Thoughts sometimes felt profound but it was realized immediately after they were thought that they weren’t actually profound. Not a cool thing. In summary this is a shallow, short, and disappointing tryptamine.

DPT: When snorted this drug is confusing and hard to describe but still quite enjoyable. Everything about this is subtle at lower doses. The body high is certainly there and pleasant. The visuals are not overt but reflections of lights off of surfaces are beautiful. There is some slight motion. The mental space is weird. It is a bit dark but not scary unless you let yourself be consumed piece by piece by darkness. Sound is greatly altered. This is not the drug to do when there is more than one noise source around. It can get hectic at low doses.

DMT: When smoked I’m in for a rocket ride. This ride starts with what used to be anxious feelings. As I have gotten more and more used to the effects of the drug this unpleasant anxiety has transformed into the sort of anxiety one feels when they’re going on a first date with a girl they really like. It feels good. A buzzing noise overwhelms most other sounds and the visuals kick in fantastically. The visuals are fantastic and complex. With eyes open the world takes on a reddish orange tint and everything has wrinkles that are slowly, but without being noticed, moving. With eyes closed there are lights and colors and fractals. There are creatures that love you. There are creatures that hate you. There is anything imaginable. At high enough doses eyes opened or closed doesn’t matter. One odd thing about the visuals is that I don’t notice much alteration of light sources. As I come down I feel great, and I continue feeling great for around an hour. This feeling is actually fantastic and is one of the many reasons DMT is my favorite drug.

5-MeO-MiPT: A gem. Suitable for dancing or just sitting around. This one has the ability for great emotional openness while still maintaining the tripping feeling. I’ve had some deep soul searching on it; the ability to deal with problems is there. The tryptamine body buzz is present and pleasant. There isn’t much in the way of typical tryptamine visuals, mostly tracers and other things that are noticed while moving. There was a glow around edges that was pronounced and interesting while looking at things through a fence. The comeup isn’t that great but it creeps up slowly, it’s nice to not move. This is stimulating and there is a period of time where one can’t sleep after the experience is over (4-6 hours tripping, another 4 before I could sleep).

Obviously I can't speak of any of the RC tryptamines until Monday but generally I find that mushrooms have a seriously dark under-currant that I haven't found in any other psychedelic. It's never been a problem for me personally, even during a period of what could only be called abuse or excess, but I have friends who have let that pushiness get them into some dark places. Further, mushrooms are the only psychedelic that feel honestly alive in my head, which I also associate with that pushy nature. LSD doesn't really do either for me, although it is obviously no less valuable.

Do the RC tryptamines exhibit such pushiness or 'alive'-ness? I would expect that the ones that either are enzyme-chopped into psilocin or otherwise very similar might, but I wonder how much the other compounds in the mushrooms contribute to the push and dark potential. Somewhat like I find the novel cannabinoid compounds to be more one-dimensional than the real thing perhaps?
