Hey. First I want to say hey to everyone, first post. I'm a more avid poster over at D-F's but I ran into this place, so I would share a story with you guys.
About 1 year ago SWIM was taking about 200mg oxycotton a day, 300+ mg of morphine, or about 100mcg of fentanyl a day for about 3-4 months. This isn't when SWIM's addiction started, it was a few years ago, but this is when it got BAD. SWIM would first do around 2-3 hydrocodone a day, and that would satisfy him, that was over 2 years ago. After running up a pawn shop bill of around 2200 U$D between SWIM and his girlfriend(she wasn't near as bad as he was) SWIM decided it was time to get help, mostly because he had no money, and now a loan to PAY off my addiction, and had to work, with no/few opiates. SWIM wants to mention that "Few" is 1-2 hydros' a morph, whatever helped, barely prevented his sickness for 45 mins.
(NOTE: SWIM never used IV drugs, he always ate/snorted his product)
This isn't a "oh pity SWIM" thread. I've been through so much damn depression in the last 6 months I'm used to it. Anyway, around 6 months ago, SWIM got prescribed Suboxone. After getting his final paycheck(SWIM quit his job because he was to sick to work for about a week, when he haden't quit yet, but had no cash to get anything) he took about 1/2 of what he earned for a visit to The Clinic to talk to his doctor about Subox. The initial appointment was 200 U$D, pretty expensive, on top of that, the pills cost SWIM almost 8 U$D each. Good thing he has insurance, or he would be fucked, stuck in an endless addiction cycle again. SWIM has paid 25-50 U$D co pay each month to get suboxone. He normally takes 3 a day, this means he will run out. Swim has managed to get a 2nd prescription for 5 pills each run instead of the full 60, but insurance won't cover those ones). So after he runs out he has to go pay full price for them for about a week before he goes and gets his other refill, that costs swim around 200-250 bucks a month for this, STILL less expensive then him getting high all the time.
SWIM wants to say, Suboxone has helped him ALOT. He has used a few times since he has been prescribed. But he has also turned down ALOT of times to get high. SWIM used to get pretty high the first month of taking them, now he only gets a mild buzz, still enough to get up and do stuff though, they give him the drive to goto work, clean, never be sick, but always be in a fairly good mood, almost like getting high. SWIM ran out of his subox 4 days ago and won't be getting any until today(THANK GOD!). He didn't have the money to cover the non-insured script and had to suffer.
When SWIM says suffer, he damn near means it. This is the first time in the 6 months that SWIM has been taking subox that he has stopped for more then 1 day. SWIM would like to explain the subox sickness, because until today, he didn't think it was that bad.
(NOTE: These are SWIM's effects after taking Subox EVERYDAY(usually 2-4 somtimes 5 a day for 6 months(almost), Also, SWIM has been using those "Spice" products periodically this last 2 weeks, not that much, few grams between the week this does help quite a bit when SWIM has nothing)
The first day is almost like you took something. Subox stays in your system for quite a while, so you will still feel good, have energy be able to do stuff.
day 2, SWIM feels a little shakey, he doesn't have that much energy, he really wants to have something. Thinks about pawning something to get money, he only has 3 days to wait, so he decides not to.
day 3, SWIM doesn't feel like doing much. Vegges out all day, sitting on couch. Really wants something, can't score until Monday.
day 4, SWIM feels bad. Not comming-off-of-oxy-bad, but has no energy, fairly depressed(more then usually, still is a little depressed even on the subox)... Ate some food, barely, sat down and chilled with his GF all day
Around 6pm SWIM feels the need to puke.Weird, he isn't sick and felt FINE earlier! After SWIM was in the bathroom for about 5 mins, he almost forces himself to puke, because his stomach is hurting so bad. He pukes once, then again, then about 6 more times in the next 3-5 mins. He feels better now that he puked, just as he would when he was doing-oxy-for-month sick, almost as bad. Since then he has felt better. Still no energy, can't sleep, wish it was morning so swim can go get medicine.
Swim brings this up, because swim is going in for his 6 month eval with his Subox Doc in a few days. After SWIM see's his doc,he is going to be tapered off his subox a little at a time. SWIM this it is going to suck, because now instead of getting 60, he might get 50 or 45. In a few year or so he is going to have to be tapered off completely, then what. Either his addiction is taken care of or it is not. From what SWIM reads from HEAVY addiction like SWIM was into, the brain could take 9 months to over 1 1/2 years to fully recover from an addiction like his.
Let me know what you guys think about my story about SWIM.
I am NOT calling suboxone a wonder drug, note the "'s
