Hey blue light,

I posted a thread about a week ago about my tales in opiate withdrawal, well I caved, I went on suboxone to try and make as painless as possible.

I'm looking for a taper schedule to minimize withdrawal from the opiates, and then the suboxone. So far I'm on day 3 at 4mg a day but was thinking of something like this.

Sunday: took 4mg (day 1)
Monday: 4mg
Tuesday: just took 4mg (today, day 3)
Wednesday: 4mg
Thursday:4mg (being day 5 I think my physical opiate WDs will be passing now I'll lower my dose)
Friday-Sunday: 2mg (1 week after last opiate dose, should be close to no WDs)
Monday-wednesday: 1mg
Wednesday-Friday:.5mg
Saturday, Sunday, Monday:.25mg as needed

Is this schedule effective, I'm trying to stay on sub just long enough to beat opiates then I need to taper off the sub. I do not want to be in these medicinal handcuffs anymore.

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good taper. Coming off of the last 1 or 2mg's is the hardest thing about bupe.. but you're not going to be on it that long so it shouldn't be too bad. .25mg is a good point to jump off, maybe even. .125mg's. That's a very small amount of bupe in your system so your brain is already pretty used to not having its receptors very filled. It might not be completely painless.. you may feel somewhat uncomfortable, but it will be minimal coming off such a small dose. I'm doing the same thing. I'm going to jump off at .25 or .125 and then use clonidine, loperamide, and naproxen to combat any remaining symptoms.
