Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ and Megathread v.1; 2007 - 2010

I don't think you read their post very well.

They're on methadone. They're going to need to wait a long time before getting on buprenorphine.

A short acting opiate in between the two is the right move.

Oh, I see. Sorry, I was under the impression that they wanted to use BTP meds with buprenorphine maintenance.....now I understand. Thanks for clearing that up.

Does anyone know if the drugs I listed (Subs, Lyrica, Gabapentin, Advil PM) are synergistic in any way?

If I take any one on its own, I'm fine. When I take all four, I'm crazy stupid fucked up. I can't walk straight, I get intense euphoria, I even hallucinate a little bit.

why are you taking both pregabalin and gabapentin? Gabapentin did nothing for me except make me retain water. When I first started taking lyrica, it would put me out for a couple hours. Even when I developed a tolerance to it (I was taking 300mg twice as prescribed), it would still help me sleep. But it also made me retain water, so unfortunately I had to discontinue it. Lyrica is far superior to gabapentin imo. Just more expensive.

Advil PM has diphenhydramine hcl in it (I believe), and potentiates buprenorphine. I prefer hydroxyzine but some think they're roughly the same effect. I prefer using hydroxyzine IV in conjunct with buprenorphine, especially when I'm on the comeup of benzos.

I have never tried gabapentin and/or pregabalin so I couldn't tell you about Lyrica, or gabapentin.

If you want to combine the medications, use less lyrica/gabapentin than you normally would. Unless you want to be fucked up you can't walk straight and even hallucinate a little.

hahahahah ,I've never tried that combo but man you need to try this Subutex+Hydroxyzine+Midazolam+Tramadol combo and then report back :|

LOl , at times I look at this forum and it seems most people in here(myself included) aren't even slightly commited to get off opiates , just looking for alternatives to get loaded without having to face bankruptcy and other assorted inconveniences that come with being addicted to drugs like H or Oxycodone .

^Yeah, but that's step one.

That's way better than the step one from NA ;)

I have an anxiety/panic disorder, SSRIs make me incredibly sick. My pharmacist said I shouldn't be taking both at the same time because they're "the same medication". According to my doctor Gabapentin and Pregabalin both effect the same GABA receptor but in different ways. The chemical makeup is completely different. (at least that's what he explained to me, we sat down for over an hour and mapped out the chemical makeup of both as well as scoured the internet for information on them)

Either one on it's own doesn't work, but in conjunction I am 99% anxiety free. I sure as hell don't know why, but they work together very very well. I'm on pregabalin 100mg 3x daily and gabapentin 300mg 3x daily, as well as my 8mg 2x daily suboxone.

If i'm trying to get fucked up I take 500mg pregabalin, 900mg gabapentin, 4mg suboxone, and two advil pm. This combination resulted in the greatest feeling I've ever had before, like doing a buttload of heroin and acid and ambien at the same time.

And yes, I know it's probably stupid to take that much of everything at the same time.

hey all... question

PAWS...

Is there any way to deal with them?

I feel like I successfully got off opiates once, even after 2 yrs pretty hardcore use, and did not experience PAWS.

then, I used again for a week...

then the PAWS wouldnt go away.

thats why I went on Subs

will I be able to avoid PAWS?

thank you all

Unfortunately not, that's why I'm on Suboxone. For me, post-acute withdrawal syndrome was absolutely terrible. It was as if the actual withdrawal never ended. This can last for anywhere from 6 months to 3 years. The best advice I can give you is to speak with your doctor about this, he/she may be able to give you medications specific to the problems you are having.

Are PAWS mainly cravings and some random hot flushes and chills? Even after 3 weeks of quitting oxy I still had a hot flush every now and then, kinda annoying. I feel like I'm going through male menopause or something lol (I actually saw a news article where that can happen in men, hormones become all unbalanced and shit)

^Those sound more like lingering withdrawal symptoms IMO than PAWS symptoms, though I believe the distinction is a bit hard to make in some regards. Here's a list of the common PAWS symptoms.

Post-acute withdrawal syndrome is, more or less, feeling any sickness that you felt during withdrawal. Weather that be hot flashes, fever, sweating, hallucination, wet dreams, chills, etc etc...these can occur all together or one at a time. The cravings may last forever. Its an insatiable hunger, once our bodies have "tasted" the DOC they're always going to want it.

PAWS for me was depression, lack of motivation to want to do anything... its horrible to live life like that...

I think being on subs and ACTUALLY TAKING CARE OF YOUR BODY by working out and eating well will help when I REALLY begin to taper off.

I just got offerred a job today, after a LONG WAIT of unemployment.

I'm gonna "rely" on the subs for a while to get acclimated to the job... maybe the 6-month prob. period,

during that time... workout, lift weights, and eat VERY well..

then begin the taper... very slowly

peace

congrats on the job dude!

i continue to take subs because i want to succeed in school. similarly, i think what you're doing is good... it might be best to continue with the subs for a while so you can succeed in your job.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do in here , I find working out essential to achieve recovery and plus it helps control benzo abuse since physical exercise and benzo sedation are 100% incompatible to say the least .1 hour of swimming for instance does wonders when trying to control any anxiety issues one might have,at least it works for me,same applies to pretty much all sorts of cardio work outs be it Hiking, mountain biking and so forth... the more sedentary/inert I get the more I tend to abuse drugs in general.

Muscular and cardio exercises for me are great for reducing drug cravings and usage.

If only I could do upper body work outs to get to sleep...then I wouldn't need hypnotics. :|

the problem for me is that i have a very bad back injury. that's how i got started on opiates, they prescribed lots of shit for years.

i'd love to do exercises but i'm not sure what i can do. the suboxone and lyrica help a bit but since i quit the pills/dope i'm constantly in pain.

have any suggestions on more mild exercises that i might be able to do?
(i've got degeneration in my L5S1, the "crucible" of your lower back, where ALL the nerves come together)

I see. I actually have no idea about special exercises that won't hurt your back, I definitely don't want to suggest anything without knowing 100% for sure.

I was first committed to Suboxone maintenance and never touching other opiates again. Then after a few months I started surfing bluelight and discovered you can IV bupe and only need 2-4mg a day and eventually can start to feel high from daily doses. This inspired me to drop my dose down and start messing with needles again, then with impatience with not getting high and increased cravings from a low dose I decided to go out and buy some dope.

Now I'm at the point you're describing- looking for ways to get high then go back onto suboxone rapidly so I don't get any WD and can switch back and forth without being a slave to dope. It's almost too easy a situation to be able to use heroin for a few days then go right back on bupe for a few days. I really need to focus on getting back onto bupe entirely and get passed this phase. It certainly is hurting my wallet and isn't helping other things, plus I hate having to keep it a secret from most people in my life and if they found out I would be in a world of shit.

Captain_Heroin is responsible for this situation by openly advocating IV bupre (ab)use in a "harm reduction" forum. Hahahah, joking of course ... even though we all tend to behave like 5 year olds in the face of addiction ,fact is we are all grown ups who should be accountable for our own actions/choices.
