Off the top of my head, examples would be Christine never bothering to CHECK the envelope before "Giving it back" to the gypsy (is that a slur?...uh...old Romani woman? IDK, I mean no offense) in Drag Me to Hell....[now I'm showing my bad memory, but] that dude kissing his super-infected wife in 28 Weeks Later.
The two girls in the original The Human Centipede knocking on the door of an IMMEDIATELY, OBVIOUSLY creepy, not-quite-right dude and then when he asks if they are alone not only do they say "yes"*, they go on to tell him how they're alone AND lost in this foreign country and that they don't speak the language and that nobody knows where they are.
Re-watched Cabin Fever...and Marci shaving her legs. She knows her friends are all catching a flesh-eating virus that causes necrosis and makes the skin slough off with the slightest little bit of pressure of friction...she knows she's infected (she's seen the deep lesions on her back)...so she decided "dragging this razor over my legs seems like a good idea"...if you haven't seen it, it ends eaxactly how you think it will.
DOCTOR Gordon in Saw not knowing that he'd only have to cut off a portion of his heel to get free, not his whole fucking foot.
Everyone in every Leprechaun movie. Just give the little shit his gold back.
The scientists removing their helmets on an unknown planet in Promethius (or any decision in that movie).

*NOBODY should EVER say "yes". I don't care if you're a teenage girl or a 6'5 300lbs-of-muscle gymbro...the answer is always NO.

"Let's go spend the weekend in that supposedly-haunted cabin in the woods where I heard they keep the Necronomicon...ya know, the one where the masked killed hacks up a bunch of teens every year? Probably because after that witch was burned at the stake there they discovered that it was built on an ancient indian burrial ground. It'll be real quite and peaceful there ever since the whole population of the nearby city vanished 100 years ago tonight and of course also that flesh-eating virus that's making animals attack people.........it'll be fun!!!...we'll forget all about that guy we killed last year and his weird gypsy mom putting a "death curse" on us by showing us that weird video with the disturbing images"

lets go anywhere secluded......... and NOONE BRING OR HAVE ACCESS TO A FUCKING GUN

Why does it take until act 3 to think of "Gun" the fuckin first thought any american has at trouble. (if they smart enough to know ACAB)

One more "Let me trust one paranormal expert with some loose ties to the situation COMPLETELY" no second opinion, no doubt in the world

This one goes for every genre of movie -- CONFIRM THE KILL! Use the extra bullet / stab that fucker while he is down and DO NOT RUN AWAY with the killer on his ass dazed. Ok that is 3 solid tropes

pet peeve: Snipers hanging they barrels out windows

I always hate when the protagonists don't take the time to fully kill the antagonists

It's also a super easy type of plothole to point out

IIRC the movie District 9 had this as a decisive plothole which was kind of lame, unless it was just me being bad at watching movies again

Another annoying frequent plothole is when the characters stand there having emotions instead of just doing the thing. If you watched the last season of Stranger Things i think you remember one particularly egregious occurence of this... Emotional indulgence can really bother me a lot in movies. Good acting conveys emotional stuff in microseconds, not with some face crying over sappy orchestral strings for half a minute.

Not that any of these are horror movies per se

I'm gonna get naked and take a shower.

lol I may or may not wear a necklace knife in the shower as agoraphobia and not getting caught with your pants down and all --- wait I dont have to be cryptic. I do wear a pushdagger necklace knife in the shower. The propylene one Mcafee bragged about beating metal detectors and you just throw it in some diesel and dna be gone. (Diesel is a bit overkill but hes the pretend tough guy not me).

*my fear is not completely unfounded - I have been home invaded and when my parents house got raided I was in the shower; not that a knife woulda helped anything -- psychology is fun like that*

Horror movies may have made me too cautious I am always prepped for a battle that never comes....

Reminds me of a stand up "When I was younger I thought moths were going to be such a big problem by the amount of mothballs the adults around me had! I thought I'd be battling moths day in and out"

THANK YOU -- That was on my top 3 (or maybe 4) list too. So many movies. Almost all horror movies. CONFIRM THE KILL FFS.

Good one I have just kind of accepted that my intelligence is going to be insulted a bit..... and those things are not there for me --- but HOPEFULLY connect some dots for younger(?) viewers or something.

Doesn't matter they applied wonderfully to horror movies as well

Speaking of --- New Evil Dead coming out I hear! No Bruce Campbell bugs me a little bit tbh --- idk where they would shoehorn him in though. (assuming he isnt involved I havent researched, him and Rami had a falling out though, correct?)
