Stuck in the middle of nowhere...

Don't you think some companionship could help his mood? I don't mean spending all day every day with a new girlfriend but somebody to see a few nights a week, assuming she has a job, after she gets off work. The right person should understand his situation and not put pressure on him to spend money at restaurants. It would be a relief from the monotony.

Been reading The Alchemist book... It has a repeated theme that is something along the lines of : "When you really truly want something, all the forces in the Universe bend to your will for you to achieve what you desire". Maybe I should acquire that way of thinking...

nobody is going to come along and solve your problems for you. you have to resolve to do something, make a plan and execute it. but the moment you start, it can be amazing to see how much help the universe can provide.

and i agree with those who advise just getting something. anything. you'll have a little money coming in, your confidence will improve, you'll meet people you wouldn't otherwise have met and you can mine those contacts for bigger and better things. taking a 'crappy' job as a stepping stone to better things is nothing to be ashamed of and anybody who would judge you for that isn't worth your time...

Thank you for kind words. :) Got 2 big consecutive interviews tomorrow for a career-wise job, already passed drug test, background check, analytics pre-employment test, IQ pre-employment test and 2 phone interviews.

Keeping hopes up!
 
I got the job (assuming background check goes through and it always has in the past), but it's through staffing agency and the salary (at first) is just enough to live on one's own and move out of parents house, maybe go out on the weekend. My previous job at a bank paid almost twice as much.

This is supposed to be good news, but it made me feel like utter crap, like a real low-life loser. I'll do it, but it will not help my loneliness one bit. I feel like someone cut one of my balls off or clipped my penis. I am in the state of absolute confidence obliteration - perma-limp.
 
I don't know if I'm missing something, but why can't you take a chance and move somewhere? I have a friend who moved where I live (I live in one of the biggest cities in the world) from Texas.. Lived that homeless life working server jobs out of his storage unit until he saved enough to get a place and apply for real jobs. Map out a plan, and execute it! No one is going to help you but yourself, and despite your shortcomings in the past feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to fix anything.
 
It's just awful hard to start from the bottom once you have fallen from the top. I feel like that one guy on the news who lost his money and went from being a billionare to being a millionaire. He committed suicide...
 
I know it's hard, but don't try to convince yourself it is worse than it actually is. You're going to make yourself depressed.
 
$34000 per year + no benefits first 3 months working 8 AM to 8 PM + some weekends and closest apartments 1hr away. That is horrible if you ask me, at least compared to previous jobs I had. I don't see how it's better than living with parents. I would have to give up hitting the gym entirely to get up at 6 AM and get back home at 10 PM. I think people with nothing but GED make more than that these days.
