Benzos Struggling to Recreate My Diazepam High: Is It My Tolerance or Something Else?

Just to preface this, I'm quite experienced with benzos, although that was back in early 2020 during lockdown. I have no idea if my use of (probably RC benzos, they were pressed Xans in the UK lol) would still have an affect on my tolerance after 4 years. I've recently (~ 3 weeks ago) got back into benzos (mainly clonazepam) which would bring my tolerance up a lot. However, the first time I tried diazepam, which was about a week ago it was amazing. I took 30mg and I was euphoric due to the muscle relaxant effects - I couldn't walk, I was literally bursting out laughing at how absurd it felt! :D

But since that, I've been trying to recreate that with higher doses and it doesn't feel in anyway the same. Like I still get the muscle releaxant and anxiolytic properties and even the euphoria but everything (apart from the anxiolysis) is much more muted at double or sometimes even more of a dose.
The diazepam that gave me the euphoria was an Indian brand in a blister pack and I have recently moved to Galenika Bensedin which, being in the EU, has to adhere to much stricter quality control standards [I think it's something like +/-5% of the stated dose]. But it's still all the same, strong anxiyolsis with mild muscle relaxant and (very) mild euphoria on doses up to ~80mg. I also take them sublingually, if that makes a difference. I know diazepam is a weak benzo where 2mg of clonazepam is ≈ 40mg diazepam. I also keep in mind it's very fat soluble, but the sublingual ROA would negate that, no?

The only things I can thing of are that:
A) My clonazepam (Rivotril) use for a few weeks fucked my tolerance.
B) Due to Indian pharmactical quality control being as good as non-existant, the first pill I had was extremely overdosed (?).

If you have had a high tolerance to Benzodiazepines at any point in your life and then a period of abstinence, any subsequent use will cause your tolerance to rapidly increase again. This can happen very quickly and at low doses. Even a day or two of using Benzodiazepines will cause your tolerance to increase dramatically.

This doesn't just occur with Benzodiazepines, but all recreational drugs as far as I am aware. This includes Opioids, Gabapentanoids, Monoamine releasers and reuptake inhibitors etc.

It's important to note that tolerance and physical dependence are directly related. A high tolerance to a sedative or an Opioid will necessarily mean physical dependence.

My experience has been exactly this. After 5 years of total abstinence from high dose chronic Opioid use, 24 hours of using Heroin totalling 250mg causes a mild but noticeable withdrawal.

As far as I know there is no way to prevent this from occurring. Once you've had a high tolerance to a drug class, for the rest of your life (or atleast many years) that tolerance will return unusually quickly.

^ so that's why oxycodone is like this for me. oxycodone=bad.
It probably is the reason. I started using #4 Australian Heroin exclusively weekends maybe 6 months ago and I have a mild withdrawal syndrome till Tuesday at the earliest. It isn't severe enough to impact my work or personal life, but it's certainly there.

Benzos are not really going to get you high actually. With the exception being Xanax maybe. Don’t use Benzos to chase a high, it will only end badly.

I disagree. Diazepam and clonazepam can certianly give you a high/buzz especially if you're an anxious person or if you have a lot going on at the moment. Sometimes the relief from the anxiety creates its own euphoria! But the muscle relexant affects I felt from diazepam was definitely worth experiencing again, even just that alone. I can't quite put my finger on it but it was more than just regular ataxia I get from other benzos, it had this warm euphoric feel to it almost like an opiate (although I tested them and this was indeed an effect from diazepam only).

I hate to be the barer of bad news but I don't think you're going to be able to get that feeling back, at least not without a very long break.

This is a known phenomenon with valium in particular, where your first few times taking it you can get a really good high off it. My first couple times on valium were nothing like your average benzo experience and were actually quite euphoric, memorable experiences. However after that I could never get that effect again no matter the dose and I tried taking insane doses like 90 mg all at once in the hopes of achieving only to get sedated and have to take a nap instead.

Some drugs have a first time magic effect, like cannabis for instance. First couple of times I smoked cannabis I experienced an incredible sensation of floating. No matter how much cannabis I smoked after that, I could never really get that sensation back. I could get very high in ways that were quite enjoyable, but never that particular sensation. Same is true for valium, you'll never get that valium high back after your first few experiences and probably since you took other benzos you only got that one experience. Now if you take a 2 year break from all benzos and then take the valium it might work.

Most likely that high wasn't from the diagram. The pill probably was laced with fentanyl. Its a real problem in India. About your tolerance, well, that can take a few weeks or months or even years. It depends on how much your were taking and how long, what else were you taking and your body. Plus, the first high always seems unmatchable. Its like your first love, you will always remember with rose colored glasses. I take oxy for pain but I've been on it for so long and at such high doses that I'll probably never get a high from it again no matter how long I go without.

There is a few, but they're mostly designer benzos, except for Xanax, as you said. Midazolam can cause a great high, it's just hard to get. I also think diazepam is a great one for some chill vibes. It really depends on the person, I for one like most all prescribed benzos, with the exception of Clonazepam.
