Hey,

I'm sure many people have asked this question before but I am desperate to get my dog off cocaine.

My dog is snorting .5g-1g of coke a day and has done since December. He has not managed to go more than 1 day without Cocaine.

He cannot go to rehab as he does not have the money and can't take the time off work. He also cannot let his family know he is using so cannot go to rehab as he will not see his family when he usually does so they will notice he is gone. I know you will advise that he tells his family but he can't because this will make him worse in the long run.

He also has Borderline Personality Disorder and is on Paroxetine and Buspirone for this.

I need to find a way to help him abstain and get through the agitation stage of withdrawal. If he can get through the agitation stage he will be able to stop, he said he uses to stop the agitation because when he feels like that he cannot stand noise or silence, cannot move from bed but feels worse from staying in bed, he has no motivation to get up and do anything and cannot be around anyone for fear of lashing out at them. He can only sleep during the day and not at night so goes crazy at night and needs it again.

He has written a list of reasons he hates coke and wants to stop to help him remind himself why to stop but this is overpowered by the agitation and need to stop that feeling with coke use.

Due to previous history of legal painkiller overdoses his doctor will not prescribe benzos for fear of overdose or addiction so this is not an option.

Please could you provide any ideas that are legal to help him stop before he ruins his life. He has told me that he feels the only way to get out is to die and I do not want him to die.

Thanks for any advice! :)

Also does anyone have experience of how long it takes for each bout of cravings to pass naturally. If my dog has an idea of how long he roughly has to wait for each load of bad craving feelings to pass maybe he will find it easier to 'ride them out'.
