Stratego, anyone?

I used to play this game called Stratego. It is really cool, and if you like chess(or not) you'd probably dig it. You have different ranking pieces, like general, sargeant, etc, but the pieces are only facing you(backwards) so your opponent doesnt know their rank. So when you move a piece forward, and land on your opponent's square, if your guy is higher ranked, you knock off his guy, but you have to be able to get a feel for your opponents pieces's ranks as you go along. I heard it mentioned on "Family Guy" the other day, and that's that reminded me, so I'll probably go buy a new board.........Anyone else ever get into Stratego?

yep...i played it in the dorm at U of M. Its really fun if you dont have super smart kids playing...

Risk takes like 4 hours to finish though; Stratego takes less than an hour.

Yeah, great game. I used to play it like 20 years ago with my dad and maybe 10 years ago a friend and I were sitting around getting stoned and went out to buy a copy.

Yes! this game is great...you have diffrent pieces and you have to place them at various points on the board, you can also place bombs to defend the flag. The use of miners are a best first move so that you can demine them, the spy can go anywhere and can even beat the general (or so I've heard...I've never really read the rules).
Best Cardboard game ever.

I don't really see the risk/stratego comparison. The boards and priorities are completely different.

I played the shit out of Stratego back in the fourth grade. Unfortunately, I tried playing not too long ago and found it more trouble than it was worth.
