Strange WD? Or am I just lucky?

I am a CPM patient trying to get off my meds, as they are no longer working and I am just taking them to stay well at this point. I am coming off of about 100/mg/ day OC. I took my last dose of OC Monday afternoon, a dose of 30 mg IR last Tuesday morning, and nothing after until I went to my dr Wednesday afternoon, and explained the situation and requested clonidine and a benzo (ended up with lorazepam). At this point I was in pretty heavy withdrawals, having horrid insomnia Tuesday night that made sleep impossible (even after 2 ambien), snotty nose, runny eyes, fever, shakes.
Late Wed afternoon (after dr appt) I caved, and took 30 mg. This was after making it about 30 hours CT. Thurs morning I took my 30 mg IR and later another 20. Friday morning I took my 30 mg IR, and my last 10 mg around noon. I had several drinks, a clonidine and a lorazepam Friday night and slept fairly well. Yesterday I felt awful all day, so lethargic and listless, but forced myself out of the house to the beach for a while. Last night would have been another sleepless night as my legs and arms started in with RLS, but I doubled my lorazepam and threw 100 mg of promethazine and 20 of melatonin on it and slept from 12 to about 6.
Now today, I am just very very tired, literally fell asleep in a hot bath. But mentally I feel rather good? I am still taking the clonidine, but am feeling more myself. Legs and arms are just a tiny bit restless, but that is about it. I feel like I've made it through. Currently, I am at 48 hours if you count from my very last "little dose" or 52 if you count from my regular AM dose on Friday.
I've gone through CT withdrawals before, and it's never been anything like this, I've always been SICK SICK for near a week, with the symptoms worsening up until 3 days, when they plateau out for a day or two, and then slowly subside. Is the clonidine just masking the symptoms? Did my W/Ds just pick up where they left off before I relapsed for those few doses? (if so, I would be at about 82 hours or technical withdrawal) Or am I still in for the worst of it???? Or did I just get lucky?? I'm scared that I'm feeling better now and by tonight am going to be in that constant vomiting that I know as my normal withdrawal....

So you were on 100mg OC and went like this:

Tues - 30mg
Wed - 30mg
Thurs - 50mg
Fri - 40mg
Sat - nothing ??

This is a tough one. Usually by 48 hrs one would expect to be in the worst of the WD. So the fact that you're not would have to indicate either that 1) the clonidine and loraz are doing a really good job (which I think is highly likely) or 2) you've escaped the worst of the WD's by reducing your OC dose in the way that you did.

Personally I think that 1 is far more likely. But the result is the same either way - that you feel alot better than you usually would.

I think you should keep your chin up and keep going.

What's so strange? Your withdrawals most likely have not peaked. You stated that you took your last dose on Friday, correct? The fact that you cut down does not mean that your body was free from the drug. The true withdrawal process begins as soon as the drug has completely left your system. The only thing that tapering does (when done properly) is lessen the severity of the withdrawals a bit. My Oxycontin withdrawals peaked at 7 days—without any relapsing, and lasted for 14 days. Although I would love to think that something as simplistic as the usage of Clonidine and Lorazepam are giving you a free pass, I highly doubt that is the case. I am on a medication very similar to Clonodine (Inderal), as well as a medication similar to Lorazepam (Xanax XR). With all this being said, I have experienced withdrawals the way withdrawals are depicted. Although it is a time to remain optimistic, one must also be realistic. Take into account how long you were on this drug, and most importantly, be prepared for anything. Best of luck!

Oh, and if you luck out and bypass said withdrawals, feel free to shoot me a PM and let me in on your secret!

Thanks for the replies. Just for comparison, I have been on oxy of one type or another constantly since last September, but only on OC for the last month-ish, before that was mainly IR.
My legs and arms were restless and twitchy last night a bit, but I slept a fair bit. This morning I had none of the previous electrical currents and feel quite a bit better. Still lethargic and tired, but definitely a bit more energy. Currently am sitting at 74 hours and feel pretty good, kind of that same tiredness when you are recovering from the flu? I think part of the lethargy is coming from the clonidine, I am going to try to cut back from thrice a day to twice and see how I feel =)

Is it possible that I could be delusional and things could get worse in a hurry? yes. But I really feel like the worst is over.
again, thanks!
