Strange trippy sensation

A friend of mine just told me that he regularly experiences this trippy sensation whereby he sees a flash of white and then whatever he sees in front of him is made up of something microscopic, usually loads of microscopic horses. I found this hilarious but I'm really curious as to why he gets this. He doesn't do drugs at all, smokes a bit of weed but he's been experiencing this a long time before he started smoking. His parents, however, did a lot of drugs in their time including acid and ecstasy. I don't know if this is of any relevance but I'm wondering could this be the effect of his mother possibly doing acid when she was pregnant? Has anyone else experienced this?

Woah. Bizarre. Is he epileptic? Could be some kind of very minor fit or seizure. I used to go out with a girl who had epilepsy and she'd have strange recurring hallucinations before her fits. Might be worth telling a doctor.

Nope he's not. It happens mostly when he exercises though, he says it's like his body is just shutting down for a minute. Also he used to hear children talking to him when he was younger lol. He doesn't have any mental illness that he's aware of.

I'd be taking that to a doctor, to be honest. Not meaning to worry you or anything but your mention of exercise and the sensation that the body is shutting down sound a bit like absence seizures.

It must be an underlying mental health issue brought on by the weed he should see a doc IMO.
Mind you if he's having physical symptoms it could be some sort of seizure as others have said.

Ok thanks everyone, I'll tell him to see a doctor so! He probably won't listen to me though because he's been getting this for years and nothing has happened. He says it happens around 7-8 times a day and he usually kinda slaps his face to make it go away.

I think I had this same stuff once in a while as a kid? I'd suddenly zoom in on a surface which would then be enlarged and made out of regular grains. Not really with a flash but there was definitely a distinct sudden change in consciousness. Happened usually before I fell asleep, in the dark while staring at a wall, but also elsewhere when I was very tired. Stopped having it when I grew up, around 12-14?

On my first full-force MXE dose I got a "regular grains" freeze-frame effect. Like rhomboid cells with a little dot for a nucleus.

Fuck me! I had exactly the same experiences at exactly the same age that stopped at exactly the same time!! Was very unsettling when it happened.

Yeah that sounds exactly like it only instead of grains he gets horses. =D and he's only 17 so maybe he'll grow out of it yet. Plus I think he might go long periods of time without getting much sleep.

Sounds like seizures to me. I used to get seizures around that age. Ended up being sent to a consultant to be checked over for temporal lobe epilepsy. Wasn't that but shared many of the symptoms. Never did get a diagnosis. Just got put on epilepsy meds as a precaution. Don't recall them making any difference. All symptoms went away in me early 20s.

In related news, know a fella at the moment who has the exact same symptoms I did. His didn't start until his early 20s and they haven't gone yet (mid-20s).

Is an odd thing. I'd get it checked out by a doctor just to see if it is summat to be concerned about as it is an odd thing. But symptoms like this do seem kinda common and fleeting. Is an odd thing.

Mine used to stop if I got up and did something. I'd usually go and get in bed with my parents (I was a child, you perverts).
