Hypersensitive hearing like that is a well known and not uncommon trait of those aligned to the autism spectrum somewhere.
(note, I'll not use the term 'ASD(s)', disorders, etc. because I do not believe autism IS a disorder, I just don't believe it exists)
Odd trait of mine perhaps-I do not like ONE BIT to have shaving stubble. And I just CANNOT get a close enough shave from either an electric razor or a safety razor. So I use a pair of pliers when I want that 'spesh chicks come and eat me for breakfast' snugglably snoothe finish. Goes like this:
'shoot some oxy to make it more comfortable, and bit by bit, gather the offending keratin into smaller bunches, wrap round tines of a haemostat, lock, twist, rip, repeat as needs be [first step inclusive of course] Or trap the hair against the edge of a knife blade and pull it that way. That way it gets the entire hair, not just snips it off, but yoink! out the lil fucker comes from the root.
There are a few clumps of hair on my neck low down that align plain wrong with any but a very narrow, naked blade for a razor, an electric one just won't pick them up from a few places, that won't be removed any other way, unless with a chemical remover or waxing or something which is not something I've tried, too much effort. Mainly down on the inside angle of my throat, and the back angle of my jaw, which is fairly angular and kinda part square part pointy. A razor won't go in there, so they get the roasting chicken treatment too lol.
Another habit-browsing ebay, for lab supplies, not needing something specific, or I do, find it, get it, keep browsing...window shopping if you will. If I see some nice bit of glass for a top notch price then I'll sometimes just HAVE to have it.
I bet I end up picking up some random, but very useful solvents, reagents and glass after I bag that turbomolecular pump I want, and a suitable roughing pump, build a LN2 trap line for them etc.
