Storing your weed-is this true??

My neighbor told me I needed to freeze my weed. Like....put it in a freezer bag and put it in the freezer. Seriously? What's the point? I used to smoke cigarettes and I used to keep my cartons in the freezer to keep from going stale...but weed doesn't go stale.....does it??

I honestly do not understand this. I think the cold ruptures the THC crystals, and I imagine there is a bit of moisture in a freezer as well...

I don't know for certain, but I think just keeping in a nice air-tight container out of heat and moisture is your best bet.

thats what I say too. I store mine in a metal decorative tin. That way when people who don't partake come over, it's not so obvious (sometimes I forget to put it away lol)

I agree, make sure the weed is dry enough before storing it though!

store it in the freezer if you mean to save it for long term. that's the only reason. weed will stay 100% potent for 6 months in normal conditions. mason jars and other airtight storage solutions will prolong the life longer, as much as a few years if you store it properly.

I know that some (dickhead) dealers keep wet dope in the freezer so it doesn't lose water weight and cut into their profit. No reason to keep dope you intend to smoke in there though, stick it in a curing jar.

Yeah, you need to take the lid off the jar for an hour or so every day to let the moisture out gradually. Drying weed too quickly doesn't give the chlorophyll sufficient time to break down and results in a harsh, green-tasting smoke.

The only reason I would do this is cause I have a couple pounds that would be around for a long time. Besides that theres no point to keep small amounts in there.

yup, if you deal in big amounts (lb's etc) then a freezer is for you.

if you have an 8th, stick it in an old (but cleaned out) jam jar/mason jar.
BUT MAKE SURE THERE IS MINIMAL MOISTURE-- otherwise, my dear boy, you have mould after a few days, and nobody likes smoking mould.

IME metal tins (like tobacco tins) dry out weed pretty well,
and so do wooden stash boxes.



but i digress-
if you're neighbor is meaning for everyday use, DONT FREEZE IT!
this makes the trichomes rupture/fall off waaaaaaaay easier than they should, thus making your weed less potent (as you are taking it out all the time, temp changes etc)

mind you, before making bubblehash i always freeze the green the night before, makes for better "whisking"



in my opinion-
FIND WHATS BEST FOR YOU.
personally, i leave my bags out to dry properly then throw em in a jar i use.
keeps the flavour (and sometimes makes it stronger. flavour, not high)

anyways im rambling, im sober.
