Storing Shrooms ground up?

I prefer to consume my shrooms ground up as I believe they hit more quickly this way and it is personally easier for me to weigh the in a powdered state. I've heard some say that this makes them lose potency more quickly, however is there really much truth to this. Will this really make them lose potency at a noticeable rate? I have then stored pretty well, so I feel like they will be fine. The powder is in a plastic zip lock within a jar, which in turn is inside another zip lock baggie in a dark dry place. What do you think?

I think they should be fine, for a few months at least. Maybe put them in a refrigerator/freezer ?

I also keep them dried and ground up, packed in alu foil in a plastic container in the freezer. Never noticed any problems.

If they're dry they'll last 5-10 years with no loss of potency even at room temperature. At least 5-10 years - probably decades longer than that.

The point is grinding them exposes a large surface area to oxidative degradation but this is only a problem if your storage method is not properly airtight. So while there are advantages to the ground up product, they come with some increased risk.

Do you personally think that they will be fine? The jar they are in is an old pickle jar but I know it is tight as hell because I actually have to get a glove with grip on it to open it. It's a hassle getting that shit open but it feels good to know they're safe.

@Snowdaytoday: Sure I guess they will be fine, but still realize that if there is a lot of open space in the jar you are enclosing oxygen and water vapor with the mushrooms. The difference these things will make is probably marginal to slight, but if you have a leak somewhere it is a different matter altogether.

The freezer is appropriate for very long term storage, and here again airtightness is important. This time mostly because of condensation build-up. They definitely need to be kept dry.

Really? That's interesting. So ground up in a couple bags in a tight jar will keep them good for quite some time? I feel like psilocybin is more resilient than given credit for. Personally, how do you store yours?

I've had them ground up in a glass jar for 8 years with no loss of potency. Some of the that time was in the freezer but mostly not.
