Storing Marijuana (merged)

I use an airtight container (tupperware) hidden inside an old jacket I never wear...but if its a small amount, I'll store it inside a hollowed out book

i think your the only person to almost say this which is pretty damn important...


NO LIGHT, if the light gets to it will destroy the crystals and greatly reduce the potency, ive seen it happen, the bag starts to condensate, and by then your left with SSHIT.

remember these.

many people have stated there way to do it, but heres mine.

Cork top container (very cheep in superstores etc.)
wrap bud in foil, fill corktop container with cotton wool, 1/2 way place foil, fill up to the brim, then put some where free of humidty and is a fairly low temp..

this will last A LONG LONG TIME
 
we've got a little brass circular storage tin, with a weighted lid that ensures air/light-tightness.

sometimes i worry that smoking weed that's been stored in a metal contained isn't terribly healthy. then i remember that weed isn't terribly healthy and STFU :)
 
I have a device called foodsaver plus. For those of you that don't know what it is, it is the machine that bags your perishable goods and sucks out all the air from them (yeap, as seen on tv!). The bag becomes air tight and seals itself for long time storage. The problem i have found with that is the marijuana becomes extremely condensed. It becomes so hard and small (like a rock) that at times it is hard to smoke, and can't be chopped up really to put into a blunt or joint. But if you are smoking out of a bowl or bong, it is good because a tiny pebble smokes a long long time.
 
morrison, i wouldnt smoke moldy buds, theres a good chance for lung infections and other adverse reactions. i guess you got lucky, i wouldnt do it again
 
putting bud away

I've been smoking pretty hardcore the past 2 weeks, so i wanna quit for about 2 weeks to take a break..i have about a quarter left and im gonna put it away. I got it in the bag, and its pretty air tight..hardly any air in there and im gonna store it in a dark dry place..is there any possiblilty that it could lose potency or develop mold in the next 2 weeks?

no ... two weeks is absolutely no time and in proper storage conditions, mold should never form. If anything, it will dry out *slightly*.

Storing bud for 2 weeks is perfectly ok. also, try using the search engine. "Shelf life" of weed is a commonly covered topic.

im willing to bet u will have far more problems containing your smoking of the weed than whether it grows mold in 2 weeks or not

How long can you keep weed

Yeah, I was just wondering, is there a certain period of time that you can keep weed untill it goes bad, like to where it wont get you high, or does it not expire...

im starting to buy this, it visibly does something to the trichomes, maybe from just opening the bags frozen as was mentioned, but edibles seem unaffected

Double ziplock baggies and then a tupperware. Leave it in a drawer in your dresser or someplace else dark and cool.

Bud lasts at least 2-3 months of continual smoking this way. It may get a bit drier at the end, but certainly no less potent. (In fact, I'd argue that it seems slightly more potent at the end when it's got less moisture, perhaps because you end up packing the bowl with the same volume, less of which is water, and more of which is weed.)

But to answer an earlier question, I don't believe the THC will break down if stored in this manner.
 
The best thing to do is use a mason jar. I've found this to be the best. I use to use vitamin C bottles then cover the top with cellophane and screw the lid on. This worked pretty well, until I did some comparing with the jar and bottles.


Stick to mason jars, they are easy, and if you smoke the good the glass won't steal your trichomes. When bud is in a plastic container and moves around it creates static and will make your nice expensive buds lose their crystals to the side of the tupperware container/ziplok bag/plastic bottle.

As far as the Food Saver goes, don't put the bud in and vaccuum it, you must first put it in a ziplock baggy then put the ziplock baggy inside the bag your vaccuuming. That away there is a bubble in it so it won't crush and compact your buds.

Oh and don't ever introduce any other produce into your jars or bags other the more marijuana. Fruit peels would contain too much moisture. If your bud is airy and dries quickly the best thing I've noticed to do is to take the dry buds put them into a jar, half way open up the jar before you jump into the shower. The steam is fine and will moisten up your buds slightly when you put the lid back on the jar. Don't rely on that method all the time, it's best to just store them in a nice jar until they are ready to be smoked.
 
I usually smoke my pot before I have a chance to store it ;) But when im storing a large amount, mason jar is the way to go. Smaller amounts get put in my frog nugg jar :D
 
Storing Weed

I'm currently storing my green within a zip lock bag inside one of those small tupperware containers, and I was wondering, how long can I store it in there until it starts to lose potency? And does it, after a few weeks, get so dry that it's extremely difficult to smoke? Any suggestions on how to avoid this happening...Thanks
