Stopping psychosomatically induced nausea from psychedelics?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure there's a consensus that nausea from psychedelics is induced by anxiety that's caused by the trip and not by the substance itself.

I've found that with lighter psychedelics, like DPT, I can sometimes think myself out of vomiting. I've never been able to do this with 2C-E or DMT though. If it's psychosomatic, it must be possible to stop it while it's still in the brain.

I'm having a trip today and I'm also trying to build weight, so I want to vomit as little as possible. Thanks for the advice!

I've never experienced nausea on DMT but I certainly wouldn't consider DPT a lighter psychedelic in most senses. Whenever I insufflate DPT I end up with a feeling in the back of my throat that I feel would be remedied by coughing/clearing my throat but if I try to do that I feel nauseous. I believe ginger extract and weed would help with nausea

Are you taking the DMT orally or smoking it? There's not much chance of avoiding vomiting with oral DMT. You can try mixing it with coca-cola which might help a little because the phosphate salt is allegedly less nauseating than the freebase. There's not much difference tho after you've done it a few times.

I believe, although I am not 100% sure, that certain phenethylamide psychedelics such as 2c-e might be 5HT3 agonists, which would make them cause nausea directly in the brain, if that is the caze I can't think of much that would help. Maybe peppermint tea, it won't help much but it is véry gentle on the stomach; I used to drink peppermint tea after eating mushrooms, even though mushroom nausea has always been very mild for me, it was there and its the only substance that typically does that for me (probably partially due to eating 30 grams of fresh bad tasting fungus), but peppermint tea always helped a lot, even eliminating it, it may be worth a try.

If you experience nausea on psychedelics that do nót cause nausea in the majority of the people who take them it is probably in your mind and in that caze I'd just drink a bit of water and find some distraction, think positive thoughts, make yourself as comfortable as possible and you should be ok.

Some psychedelic nausea is indeed psychosomatic, I think indeed in a lot of cases it plays a great role yes, and at other times with other compounds 5HT3 agonism may be a big reason. And it may also be a combination of the two.

Psychedelics like aMT that seem to have a bit of a reputation for making you nauseous may be 5HT3 agonists especially. But I think that with LSD it is mostly psychosomatic, for example.

When 5HT3 agonism is involved it can be remedied by 5HT3 antagonists apparently, one such drug is ondansetron apparently. I have heard good things about that.

When psychosomatic effects are involved I would suggest meditating to focus on energy flows that are blocked, like feeling a "knot" sensation in the pit of your stomach. If you focus on your breathing, do breathing exercises and try to relax deeply that should offer some relief.

Movement can also contribute in certain ways I think. With 2C-E I have experienced that sitting still actually did not help, but moving myself in flowing ways such as dancing or probably yoga and t'ai ch'i would have been great... that seemed to be better for the energy flows. But with other drugs movement seems to make the nausea worse. That is more the case with dissociatives and opiates and stuff though, I think.

Other remedies are indeed some types of tea among other things. Ginger or ginger tea can be of help. And I think a good number of other herbs can be of help, but I can't think of which ones right now. Papaya extracts may also be useful, or so I have heard.

I often find myself getting nauseous along with anxiety and other discomfort. Usually for a short period during heavy trips.

I find that set and setting are extremely important at these times, and meditation if you're into that or just letting go and relaxing is extremely helpful and can resolve the tensions into peak experiences.
