I've read a lot of anecdotal reports that state, "I stopped, and when I started again - it proved ineffective the second time around".

Is there any pharmacology behind that?
Is it commonly known to be the case?

Not to my knowledge however antidepressant tend to work over weeks so my guess is they took it a few weeks felt better stopped then got depressed then took ine dose or two expecting what happens after weeks of exposure.

Its like lifting weights like a bod builder everyday for months ir years getting huge stpping going back to small then working out lke three sessions and claiming it doesnt work because you dont look like when u did every day for months or years

This "so called-effect" or any effect of a mecication acting differently once a person ceases consumption and then re initiates just has to do with the changes the drug has already made to the brain: its interacting in a different environment.
