Stop bashing cops

This was inspired from the pet peeves about drug culture thread

Stop Bashing the cops. They are doing there job. I am sure many of them do arrest drug users so that they themselves won't loose their job from letting them go. Most cops I know are decent people who are doing their job so they can feed their families.

I don't respect arresting drug users and I don't think it should happen but making enemies and showing hate is not going to win them over. It will just give them an excuse to call drug users anti-social and menacing.

Its true to know your rights and be smart to avoid getting caught, but police bashing is just going to get them pissed at drug users (and people who dress in a drug culture) and make the problem even worse. They will just go after drug users with more fervor because its become personal.

(Yes some cops are the stereotype of asshole, but most are not. Its like any other job, theres assholes in it)
 
i also concur. i have several friends from work who are cops, and they're really good people. i've dealt with my fair share of closed-minded bigot cops too though...
 
I haven't met very many cops who didn't let the power of authority go to their heads. I've had too many bad experiences with the police, and as a result I have a problem trusting them or respecting them.

I think someone who chooses to uphold the law isn't very respectable because it means that they agree with all the crappy laws that are in place. Drug crimes probably make up at least 1/3rd of all arrests in the world. Why would anyone take a job as a police officer unless they hated drug users? That's what I don't understand. A cop is either a hypocryt for not enforcing the law, or an asshole to "our community".
 
Yeah, I agree as well. You might hate the fuck out of them after they put you in jail... but I guarentee that when your laying bleeding and broken and a police officer runs up to tell you everything will be alright, your gonna love him then.

Here I have to 100% disagree. I have tremendous respect for the laws that are the foundation of our society; laws preventing murder, theft, violence, etc. etc. I love the law, and enjoy studying/practicing it - but this doesn't mean I agree with every law on the books, nor do I respect every law. The ones I do, however, I hold very highly.
You might take a job as a cop to "protect and serve." Hard to believe, but not every cop believes all drug users are the spawn of satan - sure, some ignorant idiots do, but not all of them. Many certainly don't go out of their way to catch drug users, but if you're driving down the street while shooting up and hitting a crack pipe, what are they supposed to do?

I'd love to go into more depth, but it wouldn't be terribly prudents to reveal the extent of my involvement with the law here.
 
I really, really, really despise the cops here in Long Beach. So many times I have witnessed or been a victim of crime, yet when police were called they did not do anything about it. They wouldn't even file a report from us. Who the fuck are you supposed to go to if the cops won't help?

Although I have met police like this, I've found the majority of them to be gun happy and corrupt. What's more they didn't even care to hide it

Some people have very good reasons for not liking cops.

Then maybe they should get another fucking job. The SS were just doing their job too, does the US owe an apology for Nuremberg? Decent people do not arrest innocent drug users.

Sometimes there are nice cops but not enough to keep me from saying this ---> ACAB!
 
Some cops are chill, some cops are pricks.

But when I get pulled over by a State Tropper because I went onto the shoulder about 20 miles back and he tells me to stay between the white and yellow line, or followed by one forever thats tailgating my ass and he's waiting for an excuse to turn on his lights, or pulled over by a town cop at night who tells me he has a drug sniffing dog and that it bites when it smells drugs so I should confess now.... I say fuck the 5-0.

Hey dude, their job is fucking peoples lives just because they do drugs, just because theyre different. I don't like'em.
 
Everyday they accept and agreed to do their 'job'. Part of their job is to imprison innocent non violent drug users and give them harsh sentences. I honestly don't see how a true 'good person' can accept doing such a depraved job like that day in and day out.

Thats why I will/would bash (drug) cops. Their graves deserved to be spit upon!

If that was how most of us got/get caught, the world would be a much easier place. Sadly, from personal experience I've found it isn't at all like that. I have been hassled, illegally searched, detained, ect. all for things as simple as standing in a spot at night with some friends while they smoked cigarettes (by a river, on a walkway, where students walk ALL the time. I had done nothing wrong, but the police SAID THAT I HAD BEEN SMOKING MARIJUANA.) This is in the police report ect. It is important to note we had nothing on us and were not high. During this time I asked why I had been detained, was told to "Shut the fuck up...you don't know your rights..you fucking punk college kids are all the same." That is an exact quote. None of us were allowed to go until we were searched without questioning and sexually harrassed (the police grabed my genitals along with a friends...they are not allowed to do that, especially when no crime has been committed and not so much as a search consented to.) After more harrassing and violations of our rights, one friend was hauled off for refusing to cooperate and the rest of us were reported to the school and put on probation. That's correct, all of this happened without so much as a single, silly law broken. Also, we were very cooperative, but they seemed especially pissed that we tried to invoke our rights.

Don't tell me what to think about cops. Yes, they protect us sometimes, but the majority of the times we encounter them it is in a very negative way.
