Stinky gabapentin.

I was wondering if anyone else took gabapentin and experienced this problem.

I find that my gabapentin stinks. I currently have them in 100mg capsules, and when I take a few they have this horrid stink to them. Then, I forgot that I still had a ton left, and just found the bottle which should be able 3/4's of the way through the 1month script, and they fucking stink even worse.

These things are horrid. The brand on the script says ACTAV (I'm thinking activa?) and like said they are capsules. I don't know why they stink this bad, as they arn't an anti-biotic, or require refridgeration.

Does anyone else have this problem or is it possible there's something wrong with these things that are making them smell so nasty. And it's not as if i'm sniffing them, this smell permeates my body from inside my mouth, up into my nose :p

^^Really, do you have a source for that. I'd believe it, there's certainly something wrong with these, and I'm starting to worry about taking them.

I always just figured they just had a weird smell, however, after I took the bottle that I had aside for a while, and the smell got a lot worse, it made me worry that something is going wrong.

I think it was Pfizer.it was for lipitor.......but it might be the same bottle mfg

Very interesting.

The company who makes the pills I have is Activas, and from the looks of it them and pfizer arn't that good of friends, and Pfizer has sued activas over gabapentin and lipitor. However, the bottle manufacturer could be the same.

Heres the ingredients for the capsules:
NSFW:
Gabapentin Capsules, USP are supplied as imprinted hard shell capsules containing 100 mg, 300 mg, and 400 mg of gabapentin.

The inactive ingredients are: black iron oxide, corn starch, D&C Yellow #10 aluminum lake, FD&C blue #1 aluminum lake, FD&C blue #2 aluminum lake, FD&C red #40 aluminum lake, gelatin, mannitol, pharmaceutical glaze, propylene glycol, red iron oxide T3469, silicon dioxide, sodium lauryl sulfate, synthetic black iron oxide, talc, titanium dioxide, and yellow iron oxide T3506.

It's very interesting that this has been a problem with other drugs, enough to call a recall. I'm going to look over the ingredients and see if there might be anything there, but I doubt it. It's good to see that this might not just be in my head.

Anyone else have any experience with this?

and

What should I do about this is I believe they are in fact moldy. Taking them most likely wouldn't be a good idea, and I should probably inform my pharmacy of my concerns?

I took gabapentin previously, few years ago, and I believe it had an odor of cat piss back then, so it may just be the medication. You should ck FDA site for any recalled meds, but I think that was one of meds I've had w terrible smell, hope this helps.

BUT, I WOULD DEF GO BACK TO PHARMACY AND C IF THEY CAN CK THEM, OR COMPARE.

Yeah, might as well since you have a script for them. I've never seen gabapentin with much odor, but then my wife eats them so fast I doubt I would have time to notice.

I have Gapentin in capsules (Greenstone) and tablets (Teva). No discernable "foul" odor whatsoever.

Yea, things like this disturb me. If there was an odor coming from the gabapentin itself then you should smell it too.

Disturbing that I could be taking who knows what nasty shit. I'm scripted 180 of them a month, that's a lot. Really disturbing me.
