I wonder about this from time to time and I have noticed that the long term meth/coke IVers I have known have always seemed sane, maybe troubled, but not crazy; whereas all of the long term meth smokers I have ecntounered have been fucking batshit crazy. Same with crack smokers, but I've known less of those. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?
I have personal drug experiences that I can relate this to. I have injected and smoked meth a handful of times, have injected coke quite a bit but never tried smoking crack. I notice that when I smoke meth, my pupils immediately become dialated, and I tend to get very paranoid. However, when I inject meth, I get really high...but my pupils don't dialate, and even actually constrict it seems, and I also don't get paranoid like I do from smoking it. I know the cool thing about IV is you can get a larger dose in a shorter amount of time which overall gets you higher, but I have read that smoking actually enters the brain faster, but its just hard to get a large dose in one hit. Perhaps the way it enters the blood-brain barrier causes more damage?
