stimulant psychosis or sleep deprivation psychosis?

^Are you talking about that man who already had serious mental illness? [source]. I don't think that can be considered representative of the general population. But yes, going without sleep can make you crazy, I'm not disputing that. I did read a study on a man who was not known to have any serious prior mental illness who went without sleep for just 4 days and supposedly became convinced he was Jesus (although who knows what other factors may have been involved). I just don't think it makes most people go nearly as crazy as quickly as sleep deprivation combined with stimulant drugs. Of course it's hard to study, because it is much harder for someone to go very long in the total absence of sleep when completely sober than it is with stimulants. But stimulant drugs can produce these effects in the absence of sleep deprivation, so my main point is that sleep dep can't be the sole reason for these effects.

I read about a study where they kept one guy awake for 6 days without any drug use to help, by day 6 he showed "derealization and depersonalization and complete loss of touch from reality".

when i was detoxing off of xanax in jail cold turkey, no joke on day 6 of literally not a wink of sleep is when i got delerious, i started hallucainating, and tgought a huge conspiracy was being planned against me in jail, that the FEDS raided my dads house, and that i was being charged with hundreds of federal crimes over the 10 years i awas doing drugs, i thought and "heard in the police scanners" that my father died of a heart atack from the feds raiding my house, and they charged me with murder, so the police scanners i as hearing horrible shit, i went literally INSANE, got to the point where i thought inmates in jail were trying to kill me in the most guesome ways that i believed, and that the police were going to allow it. it was horrible, sleep deprivation caused so much pyshosis

When I was in rehab coming off of various things I went about 9 days strait no sleep... sat on the couch at night stairing at the wall... it was the most horrible thing I ever had to go through because I was in DEEP WD and in horrible pain, cold, sick, weak... ahhh hurts to think of it... but I started seeing things on day 9 and im not talking it up I really went that long no sleep... not by choice ended up calling doctor to get serequell to sleep finally because I was worried I would go fully nuts if I didn't ..... I was seeing flys, and hearing noises, and eveything got blury and just I felt like I wasn't in my body it was different...

I also think every day you go though psychosis you loose a bit of will power... like the more you go through it the less you can take the next time.. if I loose just one day worth of sleep I get a bit iffy ... edgy... so to speak

i must say, since taken a fair share of good quailty upper's, downers, screamers and laughers.
The most potent has been pure dex-sulphate. I'm starting to believe it activates a certain part of the brain that has some kind of access to technology way and above whatever i thought was possible.
On a side note, i don't cain this stuff, i measure it out it proper doses in a veggie cap and bomb.
I've had times when i don't get bothered and can get on with my work, and other times when I can't go for a pee without two voices harrassing me.
This is my fifth time, 50mg doses at 77% purity every 4 hours, give or take, no insufflation or IV, just a veggie cap weighed out and the stated minimum does from 3 very legit vedours worldwide.
Never had an experience resembling this from 4-FA, 4-FMP, scripted Dex, Adderall ritalin, or Straterra.
Methylone, Mephedorne, LSD, L-Dopa, Selegilne with Phenylethylamine (don't ever do this)
Any other stimulants.
It doesn't bother me hearing voices, but when satan comes chapping at the window it's generally time to give it a rest.

I have always though stimulant psychosis was bullshit... stimulants cause sleep deprivation that you don't even notice, why? BECAUSE ITS A STIMULANT. Your mind needs rest and you just don't feel like it does. Take a nap and all will be better.

I personally think whippa craka is correct here.
If you be up for many days; your body and mind takes 'mini sleeps' these dreams can become reality easily.
In all honesty though, sometimes being up for more than a week, nothing out of the ordinary happened.
The last time it just took 36 hours before being bombarded by voices; 2 at a time in 8 hour sessions.
They seemed to have accesses to every electronic device in the apartment, this place is wired for sound over and over.
I turned everything off, took out batteries from 60 plus devices. Lo and behold, they busted out tracks from the opposite building, people were gathering on the street to tell them to shut tha front door.
Okay 48 hours lack of sleep, did i just imagine people going ape at my crappy singing over dope beats?

I can safely say, i don't really know what it's all about.
The feeling i get it that the d-isomer taps into a part
of the brain, where the ego meets it's alter-ego's.
I've heard people say they hear 'whisperings',
'ghosts' or background voices...
That's totally true of DA overload or the basis of
Schizophrenia and a basis to be on antipsychotic
medication if it persists.
Still I've yet to hear of script programs that
suddenly run on your computer in a test of moral
judgment, your knowledge of the OS, your general
skills at large, even a test of your overall
discrepancy!

Sleep deprivation psychosis and stimulant psychosis walk hand in hand.

They may hold hands but their nature and effects are often quite different. Stim-induced psychosis usually revolves around "inner" paranoid delusions while sleep deprivation generates "projected" false perceptions of a visual and auditory nature, the hallucinations that most habitual stim users learn to live with by toying with them or, in my case, as the cue for calling it quits with a benzo and get some sleep.

i believe that sleep deprivation is 80% of the reason that leads to stimulant/amphetamine related psychosis.

I agree. Many stim users underestimate the potentially devastating -and permanent- effects of frequent sleep deprivation even though it is well documented. It is said that after 4 or 5 days without sleep a psychiatrist not informed of the patient's condition would almost always diagnose a serious type of schizophrenia and that one day, that diagnosis would stick.

Personally I don' think it's a phenomenon. I'm sure it's well documented. But each to his or her own.
Nobody has a clue except you; it's a very personal and real experience.
You can trick the characters and believe it's really real. It is and is isn't, up to you to decide.
They won't want you to post a real-life account, I for one wouldn't do this because their is something special with this chemical.

Too much stimulant use period can cause psychosis. Although people genetically predisposed to mental illness will suffer more. Also, taking tons of benzos then just stopping abruptly can cause seizures and serious psychosis. I mean not just a little hallucination but full on psychosis for days. Please be careful!

If you hear voices that annoy; as stated above have an antipsychotic, or any downer that's at hand. It could even be a shot of liquor.

To be honest I don't know what to believe. This circumstance has never come up until recently for me personally. After many a day the 'gremlins' do tend to creep in. It's really subtle though, you think your straight, but really are wired; even 12 hours after the last dose.
Look to other means. Inner voices are no good, inner demons are even worse.
Go easy.

Post your experiences

Here's one. During a recent stim binge that spread over 3 days I was listening to an internet jazz station. Around the 48-hour mark I noticed that the sound source had shifted to the opposite end of the room. Odd since I use a 2.1 setup with no rear speakers but at first I just thought I had inadvertently triggered one of those weird THX or EAX or whatever they call it modes (I call it glorified distortion) and kept on listening while doing other stuff for a few hours. Then I saw that that the amplifier was switched off because the power bar it is connected to had tripped. The only other appliance connected to this power bar was a desk lamp and I had noticed when it had stopped working hours before, but just thought the bulb had went poof. So for hours I had been "listening" to "music" played by my brain not audio equipment. The looping nature of internet radio stations playlists may have played a role in this by repeatedly triggering a certain set of brainwaves though.

Kilfer, thanks for your reply. I especially like your avatar of Jeff Bridges. It's an odd conception but I really do relate. I don't have too many facts to go on, literal, logical from personal observation.
I have experienced what you've been through, actually to the point of every integrated circuit rattling, shaking and it's probably just my own mind processing.
Thanks for the reply.
