Not sure if this is ADD material, move if its not

At the tail end of a stimulant binge i was very paranoid and hearing voices. I decided to take some MXE and the paranoia and voices disappeared very rapidly returning me to a very calm state. I know Ketamine is used to induce schizophrenia in animals. Im very curious on whats the mechanism behind this 'cure'/relief of the psychotic state i was in?

the dose was small (not 'm-hole'. maybe 1/3 whats needed for me to 'm-hole') and i was able to enjoy movies and normal activities. after it wore off i was still in normal state

in comparison it was way more effective than haloperidol that i had used in the past

Are you sure it was not a placebo effect? MXE functions as a DRI and NMDA receptor antagonist, neither of which are effective for psychosis, perhaps the DRI action somehow regulated a dopamine dysfunction caused by the stimulant binge, since psychosis might not always be caused by an excess of dopamine.

The notion that this is a manifestation of schizoaffective disorder (or any schizophrenia spectrum) is absurd.

While there are anecdotal reports of dissociative anesthetics being used for such purposes, one should not rely on a psychotomimetic to alleviate stimulant psychosis.

Further, the ability to evaluate any psychopharm basis in this case is greatly limited by many unknowns (stimulant abused, purity or legitimacy of MXE, documented activities of MXE in even a pure state, etc, etc).

Auditory hallucinations caused by a stimulant binge should not be taken lightly, and could likely reoccur in future abuse (the trend is often of greater severity). Abuse with caution, and do not attempt to use a compound like MXE to reverse the psychosis.

^ I agree with this post entirely.

Schizoaffective disorder (and schizotypal personality disorder, and schizophrenia) is diagnosed only in the absence of psychoactive substance use. You can only say you have any of the schizotypy-spectrum mental illnesses after you've been off all psychoactive substances, including a complete withdrawal, and still manifest psychotic symptoms.

basically i have recently had an episode of paranoid psychosis under the influence of methoxetamine/valium and alcohol. not fun at all.

it definitely was not placebo effect. hour by hour it was getting more annoying, i was not panicking tho.

I agree wholeheartedly. noonee should use MXE or any substance with out the supervision of a doctor to reverse such things. i wanted to have some extra fun since the voices didnt disturb me _so_ much and the idea was to distract my self since i coudnt sleep anyways and was really surprised that the voices went away. i did not know there are some reports of dissociatives being used for this purpose hence i posted.

the stimulant abused was 4-FMA for some days if that makes any difference

the underlying mechanisms fascinates me but i guess there is not enough research to say how or why this could happend in this case. people definitely shoudnt try to use MXE to reverse such states.
