Misc Still feeling mental capacity is diminished after stopping GBL

I used GBL for about four months. I started out using once a week, but during the last two months I was using maybe 2 or 3 days out of the week. Each session I would dose probably about 4 times throughout the night - I would often take valium to soften the comedown. Eventually the comedowns got to be too much to bear and I was wanting to do it more and more so I had to stop. I didn't experience the withdrawal that the 24/7 users speak of, but I did have general anhedonia (lack of enjoyment from things) after quitting. I also feel like I was not as sharp at least for the first few weeks after quitting. My question is, how long should it take to feel back to normal? I quit probably 6-7 weeks ago and I still feel a little off. I would love for my gaba-b receptors to return to their usual state so I start using phenibut (once a week) for anxiety. The GBL made me immune to phenibut during the months that I used it (the gbl).

Has anyone used and quit GBL and successfully been able to return to phenibut use? Also, anyone have any idea on why I'm still feeling off and it's been 6-7 weeks?

i have used a little bit of meth in the past 6-7 weeks but only on two occasions and only one day each - so I don't think that's it. I was feeling lackluster before doing the meth (which was like on week 5).

In my experience, recovery from GBL addiction takes a very long time. I had my last dose several years ago, and I'm still feeling a bit off. The most important thing is not to touch it again.

As for the phenibut, I only ever used phenibut after my GBL problem, and I never felt anything from phenibut... so that could be your answer...

GABA related tolerance can sometimes take a while to reset, and former benzodiazepine users often report having a long period of recovery before feeling normal again.

I would take a long break from substance use, try using my brain as often as possible for puzzles, reading, comprehension exercises, etc..., and try to live my life as normally as possible.

@ Jamshyd: Did you use daily? Do you think I wreaked that much havoc on my GABA-b receptors from 1-3 times weekly use? I need a brain reset button. How do you feel in terms of 'off'? I got big effects with Phenibut before the GBL - but I had to take it with piracetam.
