Stem cells for osteoarthritis.. For cartlige regeneration..

I have Osteoarthritis as well as a bunch of other issues with my back and neck.. and upon doing some research they use stem cells to regenerate the damage done to the tissues it affects.. If this is the case and it works why wouldn't it be more common. I would be totally willing to try this instead of being in chronic pain. Does anybody else know about this treatment? Undergone this treatment? I know there has been some issues in the past with it. Just wondering if anybody knows more about this treatment.
