Starting Zoloft and Vyvanse at the same time?

I have taken medication for ADD/ADHD since freshman year of high school, I am now in my second semester of my Freshman year of college. I have been prescribed: Adderall (both IR and XR), Focalin, Straterra, Daytrana, and Vyvanse. I was on Vyvanse 70mg/day for one month over the summer before going away to college and requesting to be put back on my Adderall( I liked getting 60 20mg capsules). With my last medication being Adderall XR where I was prescribed 40 mg/ day by way of 2 20mg capsules. I did not take my Adderall regularly last semester and often would insufflate the crushed up beads to study/ go out and party. I quit taking it for probably the last two months and was just getting the scripts filled.

Two days ago I went to the doctor and was put back on Vyvanse 70mg a day and Zoloft for anxiety and infrequent panic attacks. I was given 100 mg pills and told to break them in half for the first week.

I have been a frequent drug user since high school. I smoke marijuana daily and over the past few months have used; Psilocybin Mushrooms, LSD, MDMA in form of Ecstasy tablet and Molly, DXM, Opium, Crack/Cocaine, and many prescription medications such as Xanax, Klonopin, Vicodin, Percocet, and OxyContin. Lately I have been using mostly pain killers. I do not use them daily but will go on a binge usually once a week using over 100 mg of oxycodone. I haven't encountered any withdrawls from my recent painkiller use even if I go a few days without them but have developed a high tolerance it seems. I am not addicted to any one drug but love experimenting and trying all things.

So I am wondering if I should be cautious of starting these two medications at the same time since I can't tell which side effects belong to which medication such as louder hearing, diarrhea, light tracers, and teeth grinding/jaw clenching being the most annoying. I have not used any other drugs since starting my medications which I haven't missed a dose, other than the daily marijuana usage still. Any major recreational drug interactions I need to know about with this combo as my doctor wasn't very informative and I don't want to risk anything. Thanks

Tracers are a symptom, and they are annoying?

The tracers, that would probably be the effects of Zoloft, due to its effects on the serotonin system.

Not sure if they are a symptom, but I have been experiencing them. Cool when I'm tripping, yes, but a little annoying when I'm trying to focus.

*This is my first post by the way, sorry if I jumped around a lot. I was just curious about my new medications.

Well I had a bad reaction to the Vyvanse causing severe anxiety and two of the worst panic attacks i've ever had in the past 12 hours. Went to the doc this morning he discontiuned both and put me on xanax .25mg twice per day or as needed for anxiety, eventually putting me back on the zoloft and keep the xanax as needed. Im going to try to stay away from ADD/ADHD meds for a while.

Its funny, a majority of the people the doctors fix with stimulant ADD medication soon need an antideppressant to fix a mysterious deppression.

I wonder what causes these post-stimulant-prescribed deppressions, Im banking on bad diet and not enough excercise.

reeegardless, Ive been on stimulants since grammer school and vyvance for 2 years,. Relatively recently, the doctor decided to fix the burns on my arm with zoloft. By day 3 i couldnt get an erection, so I quit.

Based on what I know of zoloft, your taking vyvance wont have much of an effect on its antideppressant effects (an SSRI, Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor). Vyvances mainly messes with Dopamine and adrenalin, not Serotonine(barring high doses), so there should'nt be any noteworthy intereactions between the two.

Hey, I’ve been on Zoloft myself for a while, and for me, it works really well for anxiety and mood regulation, so I get why your doctor prescribed it alongside Vyvanse. That said, starting both at the same time can definitely make it tricky to figure out which side effects come from which medication. Vyvanse can cause things like jaw clenching, mild GI upset, or increased heart rate, while Zoloft can sometimes lead to nausea, diarrhea, or changes in sleep and energy. Since you’re starting both together, it’s a good idea to track any new symptoms daily and report anything concerning to your doctor right away.

It’s also important to make sure you’re using only high-quality, legitimate Zoloft from a reliable pharmacy. Counterfeit or poorly manufactured medication can have inconsistent dosing or impurities, which can seriously affect both effectiveness and side effects. When it comes to SSRIs, quality control really matters, so sticking to prescribed, verified sources is non-negotiable. That's why I buy my Zoloft only from a reliable pharmacy at a great price — viteron.com/zoloft-sertraline, where I can always be sure of the quality and effectiveness of the medication!

Given your history of recreational drug use, it’s extra important to be cautious. Combining stimulants like Vyvanse with other substances, especially depressants or psychoactive drugs, can be risky, and even marijuana can increase anxiety or jitteriness in combination with Vyvanse for some people. I’d personally avoid experimenting with other substances while your body adjusts to this combo.

Hmmm Id be curious to know what exactly you are hoping to get out of this Sertraline (Zoloft) prescription. The term antidepressant is wildly over-enthusiastic marketing for the class of drugs known as SSRI's or Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors.

I am not giving medical advice. My opinion regarding SSRI's is that they are overprescribed. They typically come with unwanted side effects like loss of libido, erectile dysfunction to name just one. The data regarding their efficacy just gets less and less encouraging each year.

Ive truly, never met a person who was seriously depressed, was prescribed an antidepressant and was suddenly not depressed and loving life afterward.

The best I ever hear from these is "I think it kind of makes me less depressed and anxious but I dont know". This is often coupled with "i feel numb; why does music not sound good anymore" etc.

Again, im not a doctor, but I have strong opinions regarding SSRI's. I dont think there is nearly enough front-end research on the part of doctors prior to writing the scripts. Besides, who is gonna chastise the guy who writes antidepressants for his depressed patients? I know they benefit some, but they are not a panacea.

You say you like to trip. SSRI's will generally blunt the heaviest effects of most psychedelics. I could never get more than some slight visuals and mild psychedelia.

Im curious. I understand there are differences among the prescribed Amphetamine formulae, however, im surprised that instant Adderall was tolerated fine, but Vyvanse, which is just Dextroamphetamine ultimately, would lead to such terrible panic attacks.

If you ask me, a strange difference like this should warrant looking into the effects of the SSRI.

These antidepressants have pretty wide ranges regarding how people experience them. They are known to do everything from "nothing" to causing suicidal tendencies. I would really do your research before committing to long-term SSRI therapy.
