So i have these St. Johns wort caps(300mg each) i was wondering if i wanted to make tea out of it (since it'd theoretically make them work faster/im planning on mixing it with some kava-kava) can i just pop open the pillls into boiling water?? considering the pills contain plant materiel this should work fine.. right?

Keep in mind that both St. John's Wort and Kava Kava are both mild MAOIs. You should be as careful mixing herbals as you are mixing any other drugs! They are drugs in and of themselves. Please read up on things before you consume them.

Should work fine, though generally you want to wait a couple minutes and have water a bit under boiling before making herbal teas, don't you?

ALERT! St. Johns Wort is a naturally occurring SSRI and a VERY powerful substance!! And Kava Kava is also a powerful drug with psychotropic effects and contraindicates some drugs (including the drug I am on Clozapine). St. Johns Wort interactions can cause nasty things such as Seretonin Syndrome, panic attacks, etc. My advice is REALLY spend some time on the net researching reactions of those two substances. They are both not to be underestimated!!
