can't remember
I've sunk into a horrible depression, to the point where I can't sleep without a sleeping aid (Seroquel), cannot socialize with close friends, have pretty intense anxiety and lots of cognitive problems. All due to Exstacy abuse (once a week for 3 1/2 months straight) and also suffered a pretty intense concussion. This happened 3 months ago.

So my question is, what do you think I should be taking? I heard SSRI's have helped, but could possibly make it worse (hit or miss type situation). Also, ive heard that St. Johns wort (Kira brand in particular) up regulates 5HT1a+b receptors, which is what MDMA damages. Aswell ive heard some good stuff about SAM-e. Currently I have all three, and am 21 days into my Cirpralex 10 mg (pretty sure its LExapro in states), and i'm still majorly depressed and feel veryyyy stupid. Whats your opinion? Answers based on personal experience would be greatly appreciated aswell.

I remember being in a similar state for weeks and weeks after a two- or three-month DXM binge. DXM wreaks havoc on your brain's serotonin balance, as does MDMA. The only thing that helped was time, and a great deal of it ...

My mate is currently taking st johns wort and says its proper helping him with his depression. I noticed a massive change, he was having a laugh with us again. Definitely recommend it

Question can't be answered by anyone but you..

Do you take seroquel for any other reason apart from sleep? Might have something to do with it..

Please, don't get started on the SSRI's. It's a life-long bondage to a BS pharm company who wants you to think depression is a disease you can cure with a pill. This is not the case.

Eat well (like, not fast food), take some vitamins (Vit C, Multivitamin, 5-htp), take a walk everyday, stay off the E, and just go out and do things with friends/family.

You can get better...but turning to anti-depressants is only going to make things worse in the long run. I've known too many people gone down that road, it makes me quite sad :'(

And for the sleep, try some valerian root, melatonin, or good ol' mary jane indica.

Nope, not a stick of depression before. They gave me seroquel to relieve some anxiety and sleep (aswell as a slight mood enhancer) I ask them if the dosage I'm taking affects thought process (ie slows it down) and she said I'm not taking enough for that.

I would like to go the all natural way, would be alot healthier in the long run.

Then do it man, you're the one with the power. Way too many people put way too much trust in doctors.

It's allllllll about money.

This is a good post, but some people can use perscribed medication for a short period of time.

I find that a sleeping pill is much better than taking something to elevate your mood during the day. If you are well rested you have the strenght to get up and do stuff on your own power the following day-that way you feel more energetic and generally happier with yourself.

If you take mood enhancer the effects are short lived and when you come down you feel just as bad as you did before.

^ Millions of people would disagree and argue the fact that SSRI's have helped them..

Obviously they don't work for everybody.. but to say they never work for anyone is silly.

If I were you I'd take SSRI's as a last resort, because its the most drastic and long term solution. See if you can get better on your own first. You need to make your brain healthy again. Take multivitamins, fish oil, and if you can afford it, get some alpha lipoic acid (R-ALA isomer), ALCAR, both which may be able to repair the brain. Also piracetam/aniracetam along with choline may be able to give you energy and take away some anxiety depression to give you the power to get out of the house and go and do things you like to do.

But most importantly you need to eat well and excersize. Eating well will give you the energy you need to be productive during the day, and excersize will increase/stabalize serotonin systems and allow you to sleep without drugs.

Finally I would recommend NOT using any drugs, including seroquel or weed. Weed can make depression/anxiety alot worse (in some cases, everyones different)

Good luck with whatever you choose to do, I hope you start feeling better soon.

Yeah I know its a last resort kinda thing, i'm kind of scared of all the shyt they've got me on, because none of it is designed for MDMA induced depression.. I'd much rather use natural rememdies to over come this as it would be a much healthier alternative.. I've got a ton of nootropics, and the best SJW you can buy (Kira) all clinically proven. Im so confused though, I'm not ready for UNI this semester and it feels like I ruined my life.

Millions of people would also tell you how much oxycodone helps them. Doesn't make it safe.
