St. John's Wort and Ketamine

Hi there,

Couldn't find any info about this, so I hope someone can help me out here.

I was wondering if there are any problems with doing Ketamine while also taking St. John's Wort (900mg per day)?

Could this cause any troubles? Should someone discontinue using St. John's Wort? If yes, how many days before?

Not sure if this is only an issue with anaesthetic doses, but it says here:

..that ketamine with St John's wort increases risk of cardiovascular collapse somehow, and delayed emergency from anaesthesia.
Also St. John's wort may decrease effectiveness of ketamine.

So it seems there are interactions but it is a little hard to say how significant a risk you'd actually be exposing yourself to.

How dependent are you on St. John's Wort's anti-depressant effects? You should not discontinue it too easily except if it doesn't make all that much of a difference for you anyway.
