Whenever I mention about K to ignorant people, someone always looks at me with disgust and says "But isn't that a horse tranquiliser?!", and I just want to stab them in the eyes. It was first developed to be used on humans and it still is in certain situations as rangrz points out; its a form of anaesthetic and is actually one of the safest drugs around since it is meant to be used on human beings. The media have jumped on the horse thing so much lol.
Saw a great t-shirt once, had on the front: "Ketamine - not just for horses"
Edit: The marmite thing is spot on though, first few times I k-holed I really couldn't figure out whether I loved or hated it, yet I was compelled to do it again because its such an interesting and different experience compared to any other drug.
