Alleged hosts of raves arrested

By Dwayne Robinson, Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
Monday, June 14, 2004

The alleged hosts of rave parties that drew at least 200 partygoers weekly to a suburban West Palm Beach home were arrested early Sunday after a two-month undercover investigation by the county sheriff's office.

Deputies said the sometimes-rowdy parties at 1389 N. Stacy St. were organized by Bobby L. Mantell, 24, who told deputies he lived at the single-story home. His co-host was Nicole R. Ceusters, 21, of 5301 Cedar Lake Road, Boynton Beach, deputies said.

Partygoers paid a $5 cover charge and were able to buy mood-altering Ecstasy and marijuana, an arrest report said. Both Mantell and Ceusters were charged with selling illegal drugs to undercover officers.

About eight guests also were arrested.

Raves typically are all-night parties featuring loud, pulsating techno music. One neighbor, who asked not to be identified, said residents have complained repeatedly about the parties.

"They should have did that a long time ago because they've been doing that for years," the resident said of the arrests and the parties.

Bail for Mantell and Ceusters was set Sunday at $10,000 each.

:( It was bound to happen sometime, but this is still very sad... was my favorite place to party. All South Florida ravers that have never been to The Playground (this place was known as The Playground) really missed out. It was great and there will probably never be another place like this again.

On some nights a lot more than 200 would show up, 200 is a pretty conservative estimate. It lasted from early Saturday night until around 7 am the next morning and people would come in and out all night. Plus just about everyone there was on something, the $5 admission was probably nothing compared to what they made from everything else.
I'm really gonna miss this place. I met so many friendly people there and the atmosphere was awesome. Words can't describe how great it was... all of my best X-periences happened there.

sounds like a pretty kewl place, but i think it was abit foolish for them to be selling the drugs themselves, why didnt they setup runners instead..

When I first started going there they had a runner but he always ran out and had to leave and get more. Demand was almost always higher than supply, there were probably hundreds sold each weekend. But lately the person at the door would ask if you needed any right when you come in. They weren't descrete about it at all. But thats what made the place so great. No one cared how messed up you were because everyone else was too.

That's probably what got them investigated/arrested. If you're going to break the law, don't annoy your neighbors at the same time.

I don't know why the neighbors complained. This house was very well insulated, inside the house the music was so loud you could barely hear anything else but outside you couldn't hear the music at all. They had a pretty large area of land too, the backyard was huge, thats where everyone parked. The neighbors played loud music all night. Any noise complaints were probably because of the neighbors music.

Sounds like fun......too bad it got busted....should've been smarter about it though. When you get comfortable, is when you get caught. Period.
