i want to try glaucine because it seems like an interesting compound to experiment with. but i cant find any pills simply containing the molecule. was wondering is this good idea to order powder extract of this plant that has it naturally ;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glaucium_flavum

it states its poisonous but glaucine is not poisonous for you. not sure how to isolate the glaucine only from the powder extract, any ideas suggestions please ? :\

im thinking of getting it from please no sources
says; Form: 98% Glaucine

what do you recomend ? do i consume this powder raw just like this expecting its true 98% glaucine or do i try to dilude, extract more out of it by avoiding toxins ? seems to me risky consuming it as it is if the plant material is throughout thought poisonous in general.

can someone answer me ? if i order it and poison myself, is that the help i get ? just simple answer, do i buy it or not and do i consume it as it is ???

Don't order it, if you can't be sure of its composition or possible toxicity. This is just common sense. If you are not comfortable with the isolation/purification of possibly unpure compounds don't buy them.

Glaucine itself is not "toxic" per se but it's not a notably enjoyable high either, from what I have heard.
Many plants are listed as "toxic" even though they are considered hallucinogenic, e.g. amanita muscaria.

We are not responsible if you decide to ingest plant extracts that have very little research done on them. Nobody is forcing you to take these drugs.

sekio very little research done on it ? just thought it has some effect on GABA but im not chemist specialist and i cannot isolate or check if stuff contains any glaucine to begin with. i guess i might have to consume the powders as it is which sounds silly.
point beyond this, what do you recommend in replacement that influences various GABA receptors, something similar to ethanol ?

This is now crossing the line from ADD to not-ADD material. This forum doesn't exist for the sole purpose of helping you get intoxicated in new and experimental ways.

Even a cursory scan of the literature and Wikipedia shows glaucine doesn't have GABAergic effects. It's mediated through some other mechanism.

Apparently extraction of G. flavum with 60% ethanol in water and 1% phosphoric acid yields ~1% glaucine. It's the predominant alkaloid in the species but there are several other related ones. I still believe it could be seperated via chromatography.

You can always characterise it by melting point, or by optical activity (polarimeter), too if you know your stuff is coming from g. flavum.

If you go consuming random powders without spending any time or effort to verify their identities you are liable to hurt yourself one day.

tnx for the info sekio. just wanna make myself clear; i dont go and try to find new drugs to get high, i became too old for this and i dont care for it at all. im just curious of new substances out there that might help a condition i have. i just thought it sounded quite juvenile the way i was accused of "trying to get high". im saying again, im just curious of properties of chemicals that might actually benefit my condition thats all. and if it doesnt fit ADD part of the forum, i dont want it anywhere else because through my vast experience on bluelight, this is the only forum that has ever given me the maximum of personal estimate of at least 50% help compared to as little as 5% in any other place on the forum. i guess in such cases of not related to ADD problem, i can accept a PM indicating i change the topic or delete it.
