Lyrics Songs where they managed to slip like obscenities or "references" through?

I think one of greatest examples was Prince. He, made up his own weird sexual references, that nobody but him, could come( no pun intended) up with.

In fact no one with a normal or even slighly perverted mind would even get; let alone understand without explanation. Some don't even make sense to anyone but the purple smurf.( RIP)

As a side note; I only ever liked one song of his songs, When doves Cry. When I was a teenager, I would watch his videos and hit mute. Those gorgeous female dancers were the hottest out of all; the other's on MTV.

Yep, I am old. I still remember when MTV actually played music videos. Between the 5 minute commercial breaks every 2 videos. No other network had more commercials or paid their talent less on air personalities( vj's) less. Ok, maybe it's sister station, VH1.

Wow, I actually remember what it was like 2 years after it's 1981 debut. Horrible music with terrible videos. The early 80's were a dark time for music.

However, hard rock and metal were really starting to get good. Hanging out with older kids always made me aware of what was going on musically.

However, the subtle references always seemed whimpy to me. I liked more direct messages.

Such as the greatest rap song ever.( and one of the very few from that genre I like/can tolerate). Sir Mix-A-Lot's timeless classic, Baby Got Back.

No debate, no hidden meaning, that may or may not exist in a song.

Nope, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Likes big butts.

I asked my old man to download St Anger for me when I first started getting into metal because it was their newest one and he refused and gave me Master of Puppets instead.

Correct call.

I do like St Anger though it's grown a lot on me over the years and I remember much more of it than their last couple of albums.
Great Call. Kill'em all, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets were their best; and it was down hill musically for them. Comercially, After and Justice For All they became huge.

I began listening to them when I heard Ride the Lightning in the mid 80's and their other 2 great albums.
But when, And Juustice for All, came out I hated it. Later, I began to appreciate the song, One.

Mixed feelings on The Black Album. From there it was a few songs from subsequent albums too; they had musically lost their way.

Kill em all never really did it for me but Four Horsemen is a great song and Seek and Destroy is usually their encore when they play live at least it used to be I haven't seen them in over a decade. I'm mixed on the black album too, kind of felt like they were aiming for radio play a bit too much. Ride the Lightning through to And Justice for All is the holy trinity of Metallica imo.

Actually, I only really love Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning and a number of songs from other albums. But as far as albums; just those two and other songs.( still a fan) But they peaked in their twenties.

I really think if Dave Mustaine got sober before they threw him out and of course wouldn't have; and Cliff Burton hadn't died, they would be so much greater.

Ah but then we wouldn't have Megadeth.

Thing about justice is it really isn't a bad a album is just has appalling production and invisible bass. I hope they remaster it some day and do it right.

Whoops we're derailing the thread I'll stop there.

Ok, but have you heard and seen The Megadeth song and video for Breadline?
