Sometimes, and I think for all this applies
We take a beating, and we don’t have to die inside
Trying, or crying like we’re defending ourselves
Or make matters of anything else around with a man

When he needs his guts out on you
For his sake, I advise you don’t be quiet
But you let him hurt, redefine reason, and be imperfect
Sometimes abuse isn’t abuse, it’s time to let him be perfect

Within reason anyway, if you’re tough enough
And you understand he’s like all of us
Still a child inside and hurting ourselves
And we lash out, misbehave, and we’re full of ourselves

There are some people I would die for to defend
Even if they were the ones killing me
Even if I felt unnecessarily alone with them
And I need a mandate to kill them myself

Sometimes, the people we love don’t love us
Sometimes, they don’t even care
Sometimes, a man needs hostility to win
And sometimes, we’d better let him

If no one gets the upper hand
Then who gets to be the hero
Who gets their fragile ego repaired
As long as things are okay with you to facilitate despair

People have become too aided in luxuries, or the want of, to acknowledge that such a sad thing as he holding you down, was and is a part of the human condition. Love and life itself are precarious things, and it’s best to accept the worst.

Or hold him yourself.
Most of the time, he won’t truly hurt you
He’s just crying.
