Is there something more to life? My cat has been on about this all day about how there's more to life? He took LSD recently. He has been having very strange things happening to him.

More to life than what?
Than what people who just go through school, get a job, get a family and work their lives know.
Something people who take hallucinogens globally understand, at least somewhat. And their understanding grows with experience.

people who take psychedelics are just people. Some people just take them for fun.

If you're hearing your cat talk about things then you should see a psychiatrist. Life is what you make it. There's more to life than work and family, like doing something you find meaningful. Are you talking about something like psychedelic users realizing we are all connected, that life is to be appreciated as art and we live in a mystical universe with elves and fairies?

You're the cat aren't you? Cut that out

There's as much to life as you're willing to see

Oh how I struggle with this subject :( The thing is, you need to create purpose. The universe is stranger than you or anyone thinks, but in the end just a (mis-)match of randomness. (or so I think) So find your purpose, look at what you can do. There's arts, science, a whole bunch of stuff really. Work is just there to get by, and for the rich to dumb us down. (or so I think..) But don't fall for that crap, enlighten yourself with knowledge and/or creativity and when you do, you might just see the beauty that this mismatch of randomness provides. That is the "more" that life provides. The spiritual stuff may or may not be there, but I think it would be arrogant for anyone to say we're anywhere close to scratching the surface and coming to terms with it. Yes the psychedelic experience provides a great insight to what could be there, but in no way is it definite. Is it the mind, or is it the soul? I don't think we (this generation of humans) will know, as we're not transcendental beings just yet.

I agree with what kidklmx is saying. The universe we live in is an amazing and bizarre place. Current humans don't have a complete understanding of it, and possibly never will.

Psychs have definitely made me feel more "connected", given me a greater appreciation of art, and given me a feeling that there may be a purpose to my life beyond work, family etc. What that purpose is exactly, I don't know, but psychs have definitely enhanced the enjoyment of my experience of existence.

Life is what you define it to be.

If there's anything "more to" life than having as much fun as you can whilst furthering the advancement of the human species, it's sure hard to name or quantify it.

Please don't talk in third person here. It doesn't protect you and we don't allow it.

Could you also be more specific about your question? This topic is very vague and in its current state I'm leaning towards closing it, but I'd like to see if you have a more specific question first.

No, people who take psychedelic drugs tend to think they have found "something more", but they can almost never define it concretely, and it wears off if you stop taking the drugs for a while. The feeling is a direct effect of the way that psychedelics alter your neural processes.

Life just is what it is, if anything psychedelics teach you that you have control over it in the sense that your perception of it is malleable. But people come to this realization all the time without using psychedelics.

I don't think I've ever felt I found "something more", I found I could feel emotions in a more cathartic way and appreciate nature and music more.
