Something I've always wondered about xanax...

This is something I've always wondered and can't search for, because you can imagine what pops up everytime I search-
How long does it take for one to start urinating the metabolites of alprazolam after you take it? Is it almost instant, like within 30 minutes, or does it take longer?

It takes 1-2 hours for the body to totally absorb an oral Xanax dose into the blood. From there it is broken down by the liver and eliminated by the kidneys. That goes for the entire dose though. Considering this, my guess would be about 45min (in relation to your question).

Basically if you're not peeing right after you dose itll be in the next stream whenever that is.

This is more of an objective and slightly humorous question. I do not intend to do this (I can be certain of this!). If a significant amount of Xanax is excreted through the urine, would it be possible to let's say... re-use the Xanax in this form? I'd NEVER do this but I'm just intrigued that it leaves the system so fast. Does leaving your body necessarily mean effects cease? I've always felt effects peak at 45 mins, rather than diminish.

Xanax (the active drug a.k.a. Alprazolam) is broken down in the liver into non-active metabolites (at least in Xanax's case (4-hydroxyalprazolam & a-hydroxyalprazolam)), so if you try drinking your piss a day after a large dose, you'll be feeling a placebo effect at best.

It's off topic but I've read where meth addicts were saving pee and distilling it to get the meth that's excreted back which is like 60% so yes itll work but probably not with xanax because of its metabolites

Shame. Here I was, anticipating a urinal soda. ;)

Another question. I read that Benzo withdrawal causes pupil dilation. I never noticed Xanax or Valium causing me pupil constriction. Considering almost all withdrawal symptoms are parallels of the other, why do my eyes not constrict when I'm using Benzos?

I remember reading somewhere that GABA agonists (including Benzos, Barbs, GHB and alcohol) slightly cause a change in the diameter of your pupils. This change is not nearly as drastic as, for example, meth (mydriasis a.k.a. dilated pupils) or opioids (miosis a.k.a. constricted pupils) are. Whether it's dilation or constriction, I don't remember. When I take my Xanax though, it seems to me like my pupils are slightly more constricted.
