Harness the power of the sun, and smoke a bowl with it%) Who's done this? Is it frustrating, or worth the unadulterated smoke it brings forth? I for one want to give this a try. But I dont have a magnifying glass of all things. Gimme some info on this lighting technique, is it mor eof a gimmick or is it worth it?
 
hmmm now i want a solar death ray. butane burns clean so this is not much different from simply torching the herb with a bic. the best way to do this is with a magnifying glass, a sunny day, and a bowl of dry, well-ground herb with the radiation focused on the centre so you get a nice cherry and don't waste a lot of time and smoke trying to 'relight' it
 
^I still can't believe I don't own a single magnifying glass. I just wanna see if it makes a difference compared to butane. Last time I used a bic, I really tasted the butane coming thru the water in the bubbler. God it tasted bad.
 
solar hits? using a magnifying glass? i think that would just be too much work for a bowl.

I plan on posting how it goes as soon as I get some bud and a magnifying glass. I know it takes patience and I'm willing to try this out cuz I've never done it b4. I've used matches and that just makes everything have a sulfur taste to it.
 
Seriously though, if you could find a reflective parabola I suggest giving it a try. I should do this next summer.
 
Maybe I should buy a parabolic mirror instead. they sell em at auto shops around here, might as well give it a try
 
Solar hits are defiantly worth it if the conditions are right. When i did it it was with about a 3 inch diameter magnifying glass. If the sun is completely out then all you have to do is find the right distance from the bowl to hold it and it lights right up. It doesn't burn the weed completely so you will probably have to finish the bowl by lighting it but you can smoke most of it with the sun, the hits it gives are incredibly clean. And who needs to wait for the sun to come to your window, just go outside if its warm.
 
^I wasn't expecting to finish a whole bowl from the experiment, just wanna see how clean the hits are. From what you just stated, all I need is a 3 inch diameter magnifying glass:)
 
If anybody who wants to try this likes to smoke with tobacco, I highly recommend covering the top with it. The darker colour means it absorbs a bit more heat, and I just find its much easier to get the whole thing burning.

And obviously the more even the surface, the better.
 
Would you get enough smoke using this method to get a decent high? I spose you could go a couple days without and get your tolerance levels down.
 
solar hits ROCK, haven't done them in about a year, or last summer...totally worth it if you smoke some good tasty potent bud, did i mention, TASTY...it brings out the great taste of some TASTY bud, no lighter fluid, no paper, no tabacco, just pure marijuana

basically your asking...does it burn thru the hole thing? OF COURSE IT DOES!

if u have never dun it before it might take u a few times to get used to the angle of the sun and shit...

i usually hit a bong with the "solar-style". its easier and more convenient as in- its easier to get the angle when its not an inch from ur face.
 
how can u not think that ud smoke the hole bowl? would the sun just disapeer?? stoners...............................
 
Well oviously I havent done it, thats why I asked. Settle down turbo, go smoke one of your sunray bongs ya hippie.
 
I really don't understand how solar hits work. I mean, I do -- but you would waste a lot of smoke. But then again, I'm pretty good at serving-to-myself knivers without a smoking device, so maybe it does work.

This makes a lot more sense.
 
An excellent method I use all the time, weather permitting. Allows the user to truly taste the refer being smoked without interference.
