I tried posting this in OD but it had no replies.. So I'm trying my luck here...
Good morning/afternoon/evening...
Does anyone have any experiences with using Sodium Valproate for/during Benzo withdrawal?
I was recently started on a course of Sodium Valproate (Epilim) 100 mg x 2 per day, to be increased by 100 mg per week, up to 600 mg x 2 per day, or until I feel stable/have symptoms under control/can tolerate this medication.. I am prescribed this as a Prophylactic for Cluster headaches, but I'm currently coming off Diazepam 30 mg per day c/t. I took my last dose on Thursday: I have not been able to taper due to various reasons.
I fully understand the risks and complications that can arise from cold turkey Benzo withdrawal. Yet, as Epilim is an anticonvulsant and mood stabiliser/anxyolytic/sedative - I was hoping it could help my situation?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Thanks
