Social Anxiety Disorder?

If you actually are considering having a party I doubt you have severe social anxiety. When I struggled with it I would have panicked at the *thought* of having people over to the house.



Yeah I'd say let everyone else drink, and instead take a benzo.

I wasn't considering it. It was my sister's idea. I was rather opposed to the idea but I didn't have much control over whether or not it happened.
And out of curiosity...what is a 'benzo'?

It's things like Xanax , valium and that sort of stuff

it's a quick fix for anxiety issues .
Xanax works best for me in times of social anxiety , but so does Valium and other benzos .

Just use them when u really need them cos tolerance can build fast over a a few weeks .

But look it up before just going out and trying some .



I would highly reccomend them
 
social anxiety is no joke. ive been diagnosed with this as well as an array of other things and since i cant find a doc how will give me real meds smoking for me does helppo a great feal
 
Stay off the booze. Alcohol is a depressant, and can feed anxiety disorders. I have been in a medicated recovery for over 10 years. I know every in and out about the disorder. And Phall you are right, it isn't a joke. Imagine having an anxiety attack for 3 days straight. It's the worst. My advice talk to a psychiatrist, not your regular doctor. Until then, stay off everything except pot if it calms you down. To me pot is a medicine, so I treat it as one. Benzo's are great, but highly addictive and a quick tolerance build up. You DO NOT want to get hooked on these things, they will make shit worse for you. You can however carry 1-2 in your wallet incase of emergency. Benzo's are to help break the cycle.

Start a journal, or see a therapist or do both. This is very important in learning how to control and eliminate your attacks. Anxiety comes from within. You haven't dealt with something in your life, and its attacking you. Once you come to terms with it, you will feel better.

There is no quick fix. You will have to work at it. It will suck, but remember... your not crazy. Millions of people go through the same shit every year.

Above all that I have stated above, Love yourself. This is the single most important step you will take. Accept who you are, feel proud of yourself, your family and your life. Soon negative thoughts will diminish, and you can go on with life.

my sister did that 2 weekends ago,

she was supsoed to go with my parents away for the night to dinner
and she begged them to stay home,
and planned a party and asked me, but i dont like saying no to things it makes me anxious

and she said just a few people, and then the number kept growing,
and i was expected to do booze runs,

my parents were only gonna be gone for a night back the next morning and she wanted them to all sleep over,
then i had a nightmare about it, and i lsiten to my nightmares

then i hear its gonna be 15 people, and i said "keep it to your clsoets friends"

so i make up a lie that my parents said they might come home to test her

i said i heard them talkign about it
she believes me but doesnt think theyd actually put theeffort so she goes
and continues on with the part, next thing i hear its gonna be 25 people, i dont want 25 drunken faggots all around my house, 15 year olds who cant hold their booze, and im the one who would get in shit

so i tell her its to much risk i tell her to cancel

she doesnt listen, i flip out, i had an empty heinken mini keg, and now its totally crushed from me whipng it at the floor, serveral times

she cancels the party,

but then facebooks the daughter of the people my parents went to dinner with andfinds out there drunk theirs no way there comming home

i flip out her for not listening to me, i broke something i forget what it is
now i havent been mad in awhile because ive been happier cuz i cut it off with the psycho bitch who was ruining my life, so this was i guess a build up of rage from the little things

turns out there was already 2 backup parties my sister could have gone to,
so i go do her alcohol run drop her off there, she apologizes i havent

now i look like a douche bag and a loser to all her friends, and that affects my anxiety but, i tyr and look past it, sure what i did wasnt waht a "cool" brother would do but i was being responsible

then shes says "BUt it was only my best friends"
someone needs to learn what the term best friends are:P

Totally agree. I too have terrible social anxiety, and smoking pot it just makes it worse, especially when I have to be around a large group of people that I'm not familiar with. I would try any kind of benzodiazepine, such as Klonopin or Xannax, but please don't over do it with that stuff, cause you can seem extremely sluggish or even black out and not remember conversations if you take too much.

This is just excellent advice. No psychiatrist can provide you with better advice than this. Listen carefully to this guy he has the wisdom that can help change your life. Like he said you need to come to terms with yourself, the struggle is within u, not on the outside!
 
I suffer from social anxiety, panic disorder, bipolar disorder and I am on a variety of meds.
Alcohol seem to help me more than weed did, but then I am an alcoholic but if you are taking anxiety meds DO NOT DRINK!

Cipralex (which i think is the candian version of the american lexapro?) it helps me ALOT with my social anxiety.

It doesn;t sound like you have social anxiety though if you had funat a party, with social anxiety PEOPLE ARE WHAT YOU FEAR, what makes to anxious, what make you freak out. If you were okay at the party i doubt it was social anxiety but rather just a heft dose of stress.

If you are worried about anxiety though, do see a psychiatrist to evaluate you immediatly.

To me is just sounds like you were very stressed out.
 
I've suffered fro Social Anxiety Disorder in the past. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the gold standard of treatment for it. It responds well, and quickly, to this in most cases. Typically psychiatrists will script you one bottle of benzos for use as needed for panic attacks, but refer you to somebody who does CBT for the main treatment.
 
Yea my therapist is a huge supporter of CBT. Also have you ever tried EFT. Helped me through quite a few situations.
