now this i know:
Tylenol + Oxycodone = Percocet
Oxycodone ER = Oxycontin

but this is my question.. i have work very shortly and have been suffering major headaches over the past few days. today is my first day back, and i took my Oxycontin (20mg) around 10am, and now im heading into work about 5pm.. what would happen if i took 1 Tylenol Extra Strength (500mg)?

I feel like at this time during the day, most of the pain killer is done from the Oxy, but i just dont want to be looped during work tonight.

APAP (in Tylenol) is often prescribed alongside stronger painkillers as it is thought to augment the analgesic effect and therefore provide better painkilling action than the opioid alone. Taking APAP alongside oxycodone is absolutely fine as long as you don't exceed 1000mg in one go (2000mg if occasionally) or 4000mg in 24 hrs, or have a liver condition.

Does Tylenol Extra Strength contain anything other than APAP?

The usual dose in the uk is 1000mg every 4-6 hrs; In the US you guys get different strengths (ours is always 500mg) so it may be different over there.

The only active ingredient in Tylenol Extra Strength is acetaminophen, (APAP).. so like effie said, it is often prescribed alongside other medications and as long as you don't go overboard and dose in excess, it is absolutely fine to take.

Are you a chronic migraineur? If so opiates might not be the best treatment option, as they have a tendency to cause rebound headaches.

Anyway, on the rare occasion that I do get a migraine, I always opt for 800mg ibuprofen (goddamn miracle drug) rather than acetaminophen. In fact I have never noticed any analgesic effect from Tylenol compared to the true NSAIDs (COX inhibitors).

Although its putative mode of action as a fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) inhibitor may make it useful for niche applications, IMO ibuprofen, naproxen and the COX-2 inhibitors blow it out of the water.
