So I went to my monthly sub appointment and my test came back positive for dilaudid. I have never taken this in my life, actually the report said hydromorphone and I said I have never taken morphine, and the clinic nurse said it's not morphine it's dilaudid. What!!!!!! I was in tears I have worked so hard on being clean and in three years I have never had a bad test. That's the only thing that saved me from losing my monthly appointment with my same doctor. I would have to see a new doctor and go every week. So, now I'm petrified. My doctor said they tested it again and it came back as negative for hydrocodone and positive for dilaudid. I don't understand how this could happen. I said to my doctor, if I was a person on probation I would be loosing my freedom right now for something I didn't do. I know all the time people deny that they took anything, and doctors hear this all day long. I worry about next month and what could happen. I've read that the saliva tests can be wrong 15 percent of the time. Has this happened to anyone else? The only thing I take is ibuprofen, asprin and Naproxin. I have not taken any herbals..... nothing. This is so scary, I am trying to get off of it but it's a bitch.

False positives are a reality. Make them send it off for confirmation & let them know EVERYTHING you take, whether it's an over-the-counter medication or supplement. If you've eaten poppy seeds, cold medicine, antacids, vitamins, herbal supplements...anything. Always list that shit because anything can trigger a false positive. Just be sincere & let them know you did not take Dilaudid nor have you ever heard of it. Because that's the truth. It's not your fault that other people lie to them all day.

Sorry this is happening to you. It's a rough spot to be in because drug tests--like lie detector tests--are not 100% accurate & can backfire whether you refuse to take one or agree.

They know false positives are a reality too whether they hear it "up and down" from liars or not.. take the above advice. They'll take your 3 years clean into consideration as well.

hey... thanks so much for the supportive responses. Yes... I am still trying to figure out what could have caused the false positive. Problem is they said it was my January test. I can't remember if I took anything over the counter or not. Weird delay being it was my March appointment and why it was not brought up sooner. But yes, being that all tests have been good, I was able to keep my monthly appointment. I am still tapering, just want to get off of this stuff.
