Long time lurker, light opiate rec user. If I'm using opiates I tend to use Norco 10/325s and use about 4-6 a day. Nothing amazing, but enough to keep me good through the day. Years back I almost became addicted to percs and have since been very adamant about keeping my uses strictly light.. but I may have pushed myself too far a few days ago.

I was out of Norco and had some 60mg ER morphine sulfate pills around that I never got to use. At first it was great, for someone with my tolerances, and I was breaking them in half and taking half every 3-4 hours. One day I just couldn't feel anything from them and decided to take a full 60 and then another 60 an hour or two after that. So in about 3 hours I took 150mg of the stuff and was feeling pretty nice until the third hour in, when I started noticing heart palpitations. After that, I got really tired. I'd fall asleep without noticing it and with a surge of adrenaline I'd wake up to find that I had fallen asleep right where I was and in the middle of whatever it was that I was doing. My breathing became really light and air wasn't doing much to cool me down. I was sweating and every breath I took was warm. I was forced to breathe through my mouth because breathing through my nose just wasn't bringing in enough air and I'd get out of breath. I was trying my hardest to not fall asleep but it was happening anyway and when I did nod off my body would violently shudder, my heart would flutter and I'd wake up not knowing when I fell asleep. My right hand became slightly numb and pupils dilated but not to pinpoints. I was pretty dizzy and lightheaded. I eventually managed to fall a long time later-- almost a full day. I have severe insomnia so I think that may have been something in the mix hurting my chances to sleep.

My question is, was it serious? Was it just too much for my tolerance and I was fine, or did I push it too far? I was still pretty drowsy the entire day after too.

I'm 27 years old, male, 195lbs and relatively healthy and active. Non-drinker.

Welcome to Bluelight :)

As you may know/realize now, opiates/opioids can have the side effect of respiratory depression, creating the kinds of symptoms you describe.

You asked if it was "serious" and if you were "close" (to dying, I assume).

No one can tell you exactly how "close" you were over the internet, obviously... but I think you already know the answer to whether or not it was serious.

You're lucky nothing bad happened.

The trouble getting enough air, and the issue of passing out that you describe certainly aren't good signs, you know? Not to mention your other symptoms, such as your hand. Since respiration has a huge impact on the heart (well, really...what DOESN'T respiration have a serious impact on?), it's not surprising that you felt sensations of heart flutters or that your hand felt weird.

It's not a bad idea to get checked out medically. Especially if you're still worried, if only to ease your mind.

What are your plans regarding your use moving forward?

Also, do you know what a CWE (cold water extraction) is, for pills containing APAP? Your liver will thank you PROFUSELY for learning about it. Too much APAP is really dangerous.

Hope that was helpful.

Peace.

Hydrocodone is 1:1 in strength with morphine.......but for me, morphine always felt stronger because my body breaks it down well, while others can't break it down.

So if you were used to 60mgs of hydro a day, & you took 150mgs of morphine, it sounds like you overdosed by what you wrote.

You took more than twice you hydro habit a day within a 3 hour period.

Morphine is also very sedating compared to hydro as well......be careful next time.
